The rooms - each one of which is different - are being refreshed, brightened and modernised. Public areas are brighter, more comfortable. Services and facilities are improving all the time. And the owners are often at hand to give a warm and personal welcome, to tell its story and its history and explain to those who have been before what improvements they are putting in place and the care they are taking to maintain the unique character and charm of the place. Many of the staff have been there for years and all are really friendly, helpful and efficient. It has always attracted interesting people, in some instances, very famous people, and one of the great pleasures it offers is the opportunity to meet other guests and swap stories. I am already looking forward to our next visit.

Sure, I Qaiyum Chowdhury, along with my wife Afroza Chowdhury from Bangladesh, for us it was our repeated stay at the JW Marriott, Kolkata within last 6 months. We do recall with gratitude, the kind gesture of the management for allowing both of us complimentary breakfast for all 6 days, though it was not included in the package. The overall property, its ambiance, its all the facilities, logistics, and above all, its EXCELLENT TRAINED manpower and workforce is the nucleus of its excellence which make JW Marriott Kolkata an ocean difference from others which we liked best. In short, our hat is off to its Manager and the proprietors who, in addition to its materialistic infrastructures, have managed to groom-up and shape-up such a powerful contingent of professional and friendly teams of workforce, that have transformed a professional hotel into a "SWEET HOME". Especially, the Chef Anil just to mention one, at the ground floor cafeteria was simply awesome... We wish him a very prosperous future. We only hope, as JW Marriott moves on, and its fittings and fixtures gets older with wear and tears through passage of time, will be able update and renovate them as a continuous strategic process in the future, unlike many other internationally reputed chain hotels. Looking forward towards having more pleasant moments and memories along with my 2 children and their families, currently staying at Sydney, Australia, in the future at the Marriott..... Featuring 3-star accommodation, Hotel Cecil is situated in Kolkata, 2.4 km from New Market and 2.8 km from Eden Gardens. Staff and management at the hotel were friendly and hospitable. They treated as if they would treat their own family and we felt very welcomed. This was our second stay at Hotel Cecil and we would certainly stay again next time we visit Kolkata. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a lovely haven from the outside world whilst maintaining easy access to all the local places of interest. It is a good location - close to the Victoria Memorial. The staff are absolutely fantastic. We arrived very early but were checked in immediately. Restaurant staff very helpful in choosing food and advising on quantities.
location was good. room was nice. staff was good. there was good restaurant near the hotel, one of them was rang de Basanti. if you are North Indian do visit it. you can stay here once! best of luck....
