Trip to Devi Ahilyabhai palace was great.
Trip to Devi Ahilyabhai palace was great. There is so little that we learn in school of such great Indian rulers. Trip to Shasrdhara on the Narmada was a great trip. Take a guide at the palace so that you can ensure that all the key places are visited and you get a good account of the history. Excellent location with historical and religious significance. Maheshwar used to be the Capital during reign of Ahilyabai Holkar. The town is on the banks of Narmada river, on the ghats of which, one can spend endless hours. Maheshwari sarees are a must-buy. The place is clearly the inspiration for movie Baahubali. The ancient name for this town was Mahishmati, which was used in the movie as-is. The grand temple structures in the town were visible in the movie too.Guest review byNarendraIndia - 10.0
