For shopping you can go lal chowk and city mall. All kinds of traditional foods are available in daal lake area. First and foremost, never stay on House boat for more than one night. Everything is in bad shape here, Food on house boat is never to be tried. Once you stay on ground you have lovely sightseeing experience. Good food is available mostly in the central city restaurants. The lake close by restaurants are expensive and not so good food. At dal Lake Gate 9, Bistro restaurant is very good food though expensive. Do not miss any of the gardens, then Sankaracharya Temple. ancient temple is not anything to see.
