Álfheimar Hotel is located on a farm in the fishing village of Borgarfjördur Eystri, 44 mi from Egilsstadir. Simple but clean rooms, and wonderful location for doing day hikes. The food was excellent, which was important because there were not many options in this small town/village. The staff was excellent - really helped us figure out where to go hiking and even dropped us off at the trail-head! We had one of our best Iceland hikes here and also our best puffin viewing experience!!
Featuring a restaurant and cafe on site, Blabjorg Guest house is in the fishing village of Borgarfjordur Eystri, 44 mi from Egilsstadir. This place was a dream come true! Loved the family apartment, and the peaceful beauty of the setting. We also loved the hot tubs and sauna. And the restaurant. Thanks for everything!
Set on a sheep farm, this northern Borgarfjördur Eystri Fjord property is peacefully located 3.7 mi from the coastal town of Bakkagerdi. It offers free Wi-Fi, a communal kitchen and TV lounge. The building looks a bit dated from the outside, but the interior were renovated very well. The stay is so comfortable that it feels better than my own home. It’s decorated like a home and kept super clean. The owner is also super friendly and the breakfast she prepared was like a 5-star hotel
Surrounded by nature, these countryside cottages offer views over the Lagarfljot River. Each has a fully equipped kitchen and furnished terrace with a BBQ. Egilsstadir town center is 19 mi away. Splendid drive to a beautiful location. Cabin had everything we could want. Oven was an added bonus. Enjoyed being able to bake things. Well worth the drive.
Set along the Seydisfjordur Fjord, these cottages are less than 1.9 mi from the town of Seydisfjorudur. Each offers impressive panoramic views and a large terrace with an outdoor hot tub and BBQ. The cabin was great. Excellent location and facilities. Great wifi, magnificent views. Lots of privacy. Great host, very responsive.
Hafaldan HI Hostel - Harbor Building offers accommodations in Seyðisfjörður. Free WiFi is featured throughout the property and free private parking is available on site. Great facility, great location, nice price, very clean, beautiful view and beautiful town. Comfortable living area. No staff onsite, so felt more like an Airbnb. Would definitely stay again and I recommend to all
I missed visiting the puffins because the weather was rainy when we were there. Would love to stay another night to take some time to go around the town! However becauae the weather was cold and windy, we had snow!! The drive muo to this town was breathtaking, along and right beside snow capped mountains!
Our stay here in the apartment was just great! We had plenty of room in the 2 bedroom apartment for 4 women. There were bunk beds in the small room and a queen bed in the second large bedroom. One of us stayed on the sofa that converted to a bed. The space was extremely clean. Beautiful location. There is a small refrigerator and 2 burner stove in the galley kitchen. The road into the village - a portion of the road is not paved but well-graded with wide lanes, and very well maintained. For those that are not used to mountain driving just go slow. The scenery is spectacular! There are wide pullouts for viewing the amazing area. Hiking trails are just up the road. Puffins are just 10 min drive away. We loved our stay, and recommend this area of Iceland.
Loved our accommodations at Bladjorg Guesthouse! We stayed for only one night but would have liked to stay longer to explore the area further. The weather wasn’t cooperating but what is one to do about that except roll with it...we’d go back in a heart beat!
The drive alone was worth staying at this place, but the swanky new facilities made it even better. The staff are very friendly and the food was incredible. The hot pots were having some trouble due to cold winds but we still enjoyed a warm soak by the water which was breathtaking.
Cut little town in a gorgeous fjord with great hiking in the area! Trail maps are everywhere. We did a short hike to the next fjord one day after seeing the puffins, and the much longer Stordurd hike the following day. Would recommend both but Stordurd was rough in the rainy weather we had.
Did not like drive over mountain to get there, even though visuals were great! So steep on way down!! The Guest House hostess, Freya, was sheer delight! Breakfast was delicious, and included a wide variety of foods! She played her guitar and sang for us during breakfast, and she sounded like an angel!! Many lovely conversations with her as well. The property is remote, and had to drive on road bordering the sea to very small village for dinners. Also saw puffins there - quite magical!! Fish dinner of Cod at the Grill and Bar was extremely good and caught that morning! Took a phenomenal hike up mountain next day with breathtaking views.
