This captivating seaside and port city boasts stunning beaches and an abundance of delectable seafood and Italian restaurants, cafes, and bars. Remarkably, the city maintains a vibrant atmosphere even during the off-season, a rarity for seaside towns.

Anzio is ca. one hour by train from Rome Central Station.

Anzio is ca. one hour by train from Rome Central Station. Nettuno Beach has a funky little kiosk/bar and both a free public beach and a lounge and umbrella rental area. 16€ for an umbrella, 10€ for a lounge per day. opens at 08:45. The water was clear and cool - lovely! There are pedestrian lanes around the old town square with many cafes, restaurants and a big fountain in the square. I had excellent fresh fish at Pescheria Amore di Mare. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed despite weekend crowds - mostly European visitors. Interesting Beach Head Museum about the Allied landing 1944.

Wonderful quaint fishing and boating location.

Wonderful quaint fishing and boating location. Beaches need serious cleaning I am told this happens when the season starts. Very significant WW2 history but it is not well highlighted for tourists no guide book available. Excellent small museum highlighting Roman history and WW2 Allied Landings. Excellent restaurants

We liked the most the place was very calm, no noise. You can easily find local restaurants with reasonable prices or can go to Anzio city to find more sophisticated restaurants. It is better to have a car as the sea is approximately 50 min. by walk.

Our reason for staying in Anzio for 6 nights was to avoid staying in Rome. Even in May, Rome felt hectic. So, we chose staying in Anzio to balance things out. We spent an hour each way commuting between Rome and Anzio. After we spent a day in Rome, we need to spend the next day relaxing on the Anzio beach or enjoying the espresso and pastries outside a cafe while watching people or leisurely strolling the shoreline and checking out different restaurant menu or curiously checking out all the nearby retail stores for freshly made pasta, meals, freshly caught fish and fresh fruits. Last but not least, we visited Church of Saints Pius and Anthony in Piazza Pia. Almost every night, we sampled different restaurants from the fine dinning to the cheap eats. All in all, life is good!

Anzio is a small nice quite town, most shops where closed and in the center area, parking was impossible and the parking ticket police where out and hunting,Almost every other car had a ticket on the windshield, the restaurants are great we had some great meals at reasonable prices. The hotel we stayed at was not close to and "Bars" or any kind of relaxing hangout have a drink places. This area is good if you want to be alone and just enjoy peace and quite.

Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 115 reviews
The apartment very nice, and kept to a high standard of cleanliness. The location is very good, close to the train station (<10 min walk) which gives you access to Anzio centre, but also to Rome (approx. 1hr). Most of all, we were very happy with the services provided by the hosts. They were very willing to cater for our dietary requirements at breakfast (which was very good), and they also provided us great recommendations for local restaurants and beaches, especially as it was our first time in Italy!

The house was exceptional. The views were outstanding and the location was ideal. Francesca was an amazing host who provided guidance on Anzio and dining experiences. The beach was a small walk away and amenities such as Pharmacy, grocery store and bakery are nearby.
