ItalyIt is a beautifully restored/converted series of interlinked spaces of impeccably sympathetic modern interior design. On the exterior it is difficult to distinguish the new from the old. It is situated immediately adjacent to the river that flows rapidly through the town, making a calming sound throughout the buildings when the windows are open, but which is totally noiseless in the bedroom with the window shut. A special mention to Donna, who acted as my receptionist, barister, restaurant recommender, breakfast provider, and information provider about the town!

A very beautiful town full of monuments and palaces in a...
A very beautiful town full of monuments and palaces in a heavenly mountain surrounded. Plenty of trails and paths. The people are wonderful. A magnificent restaurant, Zena, is a great place to eat, and a centrally located café and pastry shop, Officina del Dolce, are wonderful.

To be honest, this was just a stop-over on a one night trip,...
To be honest, this was just a stop-over on a one night trip, so my one evening there was fine. It is a typical small country town, but the main impression is that everybody in the town appears to be happy, and to be willing to talk to strangers. The restaurant that I went to (Piccola Osteria Zena) was a little eccentric, but full of locals and the food was excellent. Don't expect fast service, just absorb the atmosphere.

In the heart of this historic Campagna village in a beautiful mountainous area, the Hotel Maccarunera is a haven of silence. Sleeping while listening to the waterfalls is a priceless luxury. The spacious room, superb bed, balcony overlooking the river and mountains, refrigerator, heating, and superb service. A luxury for gourmets.
