Just WOW! If I could give 11/10 I would ! 3 night stay was reduced to 2 nights due to storms and my partner and I really didn’t want to leave. This is an utterly unique place to stay and everything has been perfectly curated- incredible food grown in the garden and a delicious breakfast with a view to art and sculptures around every corner. There is grace and style in its simplicity in the bedroom but very comfortable with lovely bath products. Yes there are steps, but the kind and courteous staff will help. If you do want to have dinner in the restaurant, make sure you book ahead. A magical experience at night walking across the causeway with our own key to get into the castle at night. We will be back!

San Montano is hands down the best hotel I’ve stayed in. The island of Ischia is so special and the location and outlook is breathtaking. The facilities, staff and experience we had here will never be beaten. We came to celebrate three years together and left engaged to be married. We can’t thank Marco and his team enough! 🌅🥂
Our 4 nights on ischia followed 6 nights in Sorrento. We visited the Amalfi coast, Napoli, Capri and more before heading to San Montano, but our time there was the highlight of our trip.
We had activities planned on the island, which we cancelled when we realised how beautiful the grounds and pools are. The photos really don’t do it justice!
We would recommend you visit Castello Aragonese and/or Sant’Angelo while there and there’s some lovely family run restaurants down in the town below, that the hotel runs a complimentary shuttle bus too.
Make sure you book a spa treatment. We did a couples massage, which was great.
Just book and you won’t regret it!

Ischia is the best memory we have out of our trip to Italy.
Ischia is the best memory we have out of our trip to Italy. We went to Sicily - which is extremely overrated, and I would never recommend going there. Ischia - is unique with everything it has to offer - shop till your drop, excursions, boat tour, swimming, beaches, food

We loved Sant Angelo- definitely worth a visit and onto a boat taxi to Maronti beach. Cava dell'isola beach was down a steep slope but much less crowded than other beaches. We couldn't even get a space on Citara beach as so much of it is taken up by Poseidon thermal park sunbeds and other beach clubs, of which most were empty, but a common theme in Italy.
Lacco Ameno was lovely to visit early evening and take dinner in the hills and dinner around Porto Ischia is also worth doing watching all the yachts come in
Buses that link the main towns are frequent and the weekly bus pass is cheap.

Ischia is such a beautiful island and the local people are so welcoming. You feel appreciated and there are a lot of options to eat in restaurants and entertainment in the streets. The island is easy to get around and each part has its own paradise with mild climate, picturesque scenery, and numerous thermal mineral springs. The Aragonese Castle is interesting and you are able to have a tour and the view is spectacular.

Ischia is perfect for a 4-5 day stay.
Ischia is perfect for a 4-5 day stay. A boat tour of the island where you can stop and swim at various locations is highly recommended. The restaurants, bars, and cafes around the various towns are all excellent. Perhaps the most important thing to be aware of is the cost of cabs/taxis on the island: the rates are extremely high as the tourist season is short. The buses are a much more affordable option, but they can often be crowded and you may still need to do a lot of walking to get to/from your destination. We were shocked at how much we had to spend on taxis (easily 3-4x's more than other cities).

We only stayed in Forio but would love to return and explore the island more. Small beach but crisp clean waters, perfect for dip with a small child. Cute shops and nice food. There’s also a bakery by the beach which was very popular with visitors and locals for breakfast and lunch to take away.

The fact not many Brits at this time in July - mainly Italian families from Naples so Italian was heard all over. But on the negative side, it was quite noisy with Italian children most nights as they stay up very late.
Ischia is a very pretty little island with beautifully warm waters due to the thermal waters - prices were reasonable in most areas including italian clothes. Lovely cafes and good choice of restaurants although we did eat half board at the hotel apart from our last night. I would definitely return but not in holiday season.
We were 3 families that stayed at the hotel early april 2023 and we all agree that this was one of the best hotel we have ever visited in Italy. The hotel manager is really helpful and he and all his staff goes the extra mile for his guests. Great beautyful large rooms, all with sea view, great enviroment with old small roads that were really fun to drive. The hotel even has a free shuttle that drive the guests for free to Forio and Sant Angelo. We will surely book this hotel next time we visit Ischia.
The hotel was exactly what we were looking for to experience Ischia, the location straight on the beach was perfect and a very short walk to all the exceptional restaurants and great access to the bus terminal and port for exploring other parts of the island and nearby Prochida. For us the price was great value, the staff were exceptionally helpful and the cleaning staff were fantastic I don’t think I’ve stayed anywhere before where the room has been cleaned and towels changed daily.
Hotel is very good to go to relax. It has the beach in front, its own space on the beach for the people of the hotel. We really enjoy , the hotel was always very clean. The staff that works at the hotel is incredible always willing to help us.
Breakfast was included and we enjoyed it very much.
