Located along Messina's main shopping street, 2 km from the G. Martino Hospital, Vmaison Hotel features air-conditioned rooms, a restaurant and a terrace. Very posh, facilities of a much grander establishment! Room was huge, dining area and bar on the roof top! Delicious breakfast and helpful staff. Quirky decoration in public areas but rooms elegant and loads of tech!
Set in the centre of Messina, Residence Acqua del Conte houses an exhibition of contemporary works of art in its reception. Each room is dedicated to a different movie and has original film posters. this is an excellent more than value for money hotel, there is even a pool table and better than that there is a gym!the room is large and cleaned and the shower is excellent. really easy to find with excellent access to town and on street parking.
Located just 200 metres from Messina Port, Hotel S. Elia offers spacious and elegant rooms with air conditioning. The S. Elia Hotel is decorated in a Liberty style and features antique furniture. Excelent location and super friendly staff. Will definitely stay there next time too.
Set in Messina centre, Hotel Touring is next to the train station and 10 minutes' walk from the harbour. It offers reading and TV lounges, a bar and air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi. Professional staff, room really clean. Nice breakfast with really good croissant. Location is really near central station and ferry boats.
Hotel La Residenza is centrally located in Messina, a 10-minute walk from the Cathedral. The hotel offers air-conditioned rooms with a flat-screen TV. Nice hotel, beautiful room with a terrace. Lovely comfy bed. Staff were friendly. It was well located with good restaurants nearby. In fact we had a superb meal, our best in Sicily just across the road. Messina is a great city, perfect for sampling the best local food and drinks. It is also a perfect place to use as a base for travelling to see the top sights in Sicily. Taormina is only 45 mins away, Catania (for Mount Etna) only 1 hour, and Siracusa only 2 hours, and Italian trains are very cheap so it’s the perfect way to do it. You have to go up into the mountains just behind Messina for some breathtaking views of lo stretto and Calabria - simply stunning! And it is the true home of arancini, and some of the best Sicilian food you can try! Best place of all is the Famulari fratelli rosticceria on via Cesare Battisti! Make sure to visit the Duomo at midday for its amazing astronomical clock. And the people are very nice and friendly, more so than other towns. Definitely should be visited!
Messina was bigger than expected. Good facilities - shops, bars, restaurants. Easy to get the ferry to the mainland. Also good train links for visiting other places of interest e.g Tauramina, Palermo. Midday at the Duomo definitely worth experiencing!
Messina is often overlooked because it was destroyed in 1909 and rebuilt. But some was reconstructed stone for stone and otherwise the rebuild was well designed, with broad boulevards such as in the 19th century parts of Barcelona in Parisian-style. The Museo Regionale is a must-see, really well-designed, with important and interesting artefacts back to Messina’s earliest times, through to it’s headline attractions of Antonello da Messina and two impressive Caravaggio works.
The town museum has 2 paintings of Caravaccio - the locals are very proud to have them, a must to see. The arrival at Messina by train is an extraordinary experience : the train drives on the ferry into Messina port. The best in Messina is to be a guest at Le Case Pinto, the B&B of Francesco. Very very special !
Not really a very interesting stop but the cathedral clock was really ingenious and a lot of fun to watch the show! Did a 2 hour walking tour which was of good value to understand the city and see the I important sites.
Messina is a very interesting city with many worthwhile sights. The clock tower is definitely not to be missed. The cathedral of Messina is also very worthwhile. Be sure to take the ferry boat across the straits to Calabria.

My wife and I loved that we were across the street from the water and a quick walk to the central piazza and Messina cathedral. We also were super close to some very contemporary and local Sicilian restaurants that were doing some incredible regional dishes. Our room was really quiet even overlooking the street because they installed really nice double pane glass doors to the terrace. Staff was super kind and helpful and each morning they made a cappuccino for us and had a great selection of local Sicilian pastries.

Excellent location: close to the tramway, museum and the northern foreshore of straight of Messina. The rooms are large and with air con, all the furniture is brand new and the bathroom is well equipped, clean and tidy. The lovely lady at the reception is kind and helpful all the time, introducing you in a friendly and cozy environment. Great breakfast with Sicilian “granita”. Just delicious! We will come back.

Very clean and spacious. Excellent croissant and coffee at a neighborhood cafe’. Close to the ferry for travel to Italy and easy access to City center, which is quite a long walk, but on a wide, paved exercise path. Good view of the sea from the lower unit. Free parking across the street from the building. Guiseppe, the owner, was very helpful and met us with keys and details for our stay.

Nicola was so helpful! He was really resposive to our messages and answered every question. Very kind and warm hearted man, he knows a lot about Sicily in general so he gave nice suggestions for our trip. We liked the location in quiet neighbourhood. You have to have a car though to drive around. The room was spacious, nice, clean bathroom. In general we liked and would recommend.

A good clean hotel in Messina , ready to ferry onto mainland , a modern well appointed hotel , staff very good and helpful , a 20 minute walk into town centre , 10 minutes to the ferry across to san Giovanni. We had a street veiw , which was quiet to sleep and the roof terrace fantastic to relax with a drink and read , whilst listening to the daily throb of the city

After travelling more than 10 years all over Italy, I can honestly say this is the best b&b I have ever seen. It's new, clean, bright, modern - it's luxurious in every aspect. The situation in perfect just in the middle of everything in Messina) Special mention to the personel - the all did everything to feel you welcome (fresh omeletes!)

It was great. The host was so nice and helpful. He came by every morning to make me fresh breakfast. The balcony and the backyard were really nice and you could just relax all day if you wanted to. The beach was really close and nice. And it had a nice monument just across the street which was a nice surprise.

The staff made us an omelet upon request. Traveling for a month in Italy, so needed something without white flour, butter and sugar for breakfast and the eggs were a welcome change!
