We had a wonderful stay at Taormina Garden Hotel. Federica at the reception was very helpful and welcoming. Angelo, who served our breakfast and handled our check-out, was fantastic — the breakfast was very good, and drinking espresso prepared by Angelo was a real pleasure. We also enjoyed a lovely and friendly conversation with him. We spent a beautiful night at the hotel. The hotel is amazing, very close to the sea, and has a well-maintained garden filled with a variety of plants and trees. There are also sun loungers available for relaxing and sunbathing. The availability of parking is another big plus.We highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.

This place deserves 11 stars! Ideal place to stay in Syracuse, very close to Neopolis, only 10 minutes of walk, close to Ortigia island, as well as to main bus stops. The room was very clean and tidy, breakfast was nice, and staff were amazing! The lady in the reception helped us a lot to plan our stay, she had pre-made lists and maps for many things you might need during your vacation. Very good value for money!

FAQs about hotels in Sicily

An Island of Intrigue

The largest Italian island, Sicily has long been a place of mystery and intrigue, coveted by civilisations. Its Greek history is most evident at Agrigento whose UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of the Temples has amazingly well-preserved Greek temples.

Also important to Greece was Siracusa. Archimedes was born here and there is a theatre and necropolis to explore. However, the most spectacularly located Greek theatre is at Taormina. Set on a hill overlooking the glorious Mediterranean Sea, this theatre points towards Mount Etna smoking away in the distance above Catania. Picturesque Taormina is one of the most popular Sicily resorts and down below there are some wonderful Giardini Naxos hotels on the beach, available on Booking.com.

Another resort boasting some of the best Sicily hotels for families is fabulous Cefalù. Home to a lovely beach, this small town is dramatically located at the foot of a mountain. To the north-west are the Aeolian Islands (also known as the Lipari Islands), volcanic islands with plunging cliffs and secret coves.

Back on the main island, the capital Palermo is a seductive mix of amazing architecture and laidback life. Trapani to the west is known for its salt flats, whereas Messina to the east is where trains drive straight onto the ferry to Reggio Calabria on the Italian mainland.

Incredible stay! The staff made us feel welcomed and like family, they went above and beyond to cater to our every need. The facilities were impeccable and the thermal pools took away all our stress. The food was fresh, delicious and healthy. The pizza was actually the best we've had in Sicily, we have been travelling around the island so this is a big claim to make! The only problem is we didn't want to leave the accommodation to explore the surrounding area! Internet was great and we were able to get work done.

This is my second time at this resort. It is so peaceful, surrounded by trees. Beach is amazingly beautiful. Pools- you are spoilt for choice. The animation team is great!!!We had a soft spot for Tommaso, he was so humble and kind and funny ...but truly all of them were great 😁 The staff at the pool bar were always gentle and professional too. Perfect place if you want to relax, especially with kids. Kids clubs are amazing, however kids need to know Italian, as most of the team are Italian speaking only.

Planning a trip? Get inspired by reviews of cities in Sicily

Enjoyed the walkability of the city.

Enjoyed the walkability of the city. The local surroundings with lots of character, cobble stone streets, lot of graffiti but added some flavor. Balaro market very crowded, instead go to Capo market. Took a cooking classes through Tours of Italy which was fun. Upon departure, we had difficulty hailing a taxi despite booking the night before. Driver cancelled within 30 minutes of scheduled pickup. Nearest taxi rank was a bit of a walk especially if carrying bags on the stone streets. Better to arrange private pickup which may be more expensive but less troubling.

Beautiful and romantic city with so much to see.

Beautiful and romantic city with so much to see. Good location because you are fast to get to other destinations like Taormina, Syracuse, Etna vulcano etc... Italy is generally dirty, and Sicily especially because south of the Italy is poor, so i wouldnt recommend it to someone who cant handle that. Im personally okay with that and will come back here soon. Also you have to be aware that there are some neigborhoods that remind you of favelas, so check multiple times before booking your apartment. Catania is so pretty, people are welcome and food is delicious, and generally nothing is overprices. i definitely recommend this city.

Absolutely Worth Visiting – One of the Highlights of Sicily!

Absolutely Worth Visiting – One of the Highlights of Sicily! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We were very pleasantly surprised by Syracuse and absolutely loved our time there. It is a beautiful destination with an amazing combination of history, culture, architecture, sea views and authentic Sicilian atmosphere. Ortigia is particularly charming, with its narrow streets, beautiful squares, historic buildings, restaurants and lovely waterfront. There is so much to discover, and simply walking around and enjoying the atmosphere is an experience in itself. Syracuse also offers many fascinating historical and archaeological sites, making it a perfect destination for anyone who wants to combine sightseeing with relaxation and good food. We also took a boat trip along the coast and had the opportunity to see the caves from the sea, which was a wonderful experience and gave us a completely different perspective of this beautiful area. We left Syracuse with wonderful memories and were genuinely impressed by everything the city and surrounding area have to offer. Definitely worth visiting when travelling around Sicily. We would happily return! 🇮🇹❤️

It is a stunning place with great beauty. The coast is rugged and sometimes the beach access may be challenging. The water is worth the effort. Food and eat out will always be more here as its a high tourist area and you can expect inflated prices. Sicily is a stunning place and offers beauty at every turn, look around and engage with the locals and you will be rewarded.

This a great town for a small stay (2 to 4 days).

This a great town for a small stay (2 to 4 days). Parking is a huge challenge, and getting your luggage into the historic center (a ZTL you cannot drive in) is another significant challenge. We had to park near the beach at significant daily cost and drag our bags across the cobblestones to our lodging. Not unusual for Europe, but pointing out the logistical challenges. We visited the beach often, but it gets insanely crowded (as many popular Italian beaches do.) The town is so lively, and the historic area is so nice. it's worth the challenges, as long as you plan for them.

I found Trapani somewhat disappointing compared with other parts of Sicily we visited. The old town has some attractive historic buildings, but overall it felt rather tired and not particularly clean, and we didn't find as charming as expected. Restaurants were generally quite expensive for what was offered, with many having limited menus. The nearby beaches were also very busy and, in our opinion, not especially clean. If visiting the area again, we would probably choose to stay in Marsala or elsewhere and visit Trapani for the day rather than base ourselves there.

Castellammare del Golfo is a beautiful and charming town with a great atmosphere, lovely restaurants, beaches and a picturesque harbour. What we especially liked was that it still feels very local, with plenty of Sicilians and without being overcrowded with international tourists. It’s also a perfect base for exploring northwestern Sicily, with Scopello, the Zingaro Nature Reserve, Segesta, Trapani and Marsala all within easy reach. A great combination of authentic Sicilian life, beaches, food and day trips. Definitely a place we would come back to.
