Room Of Andrea Hotel 4 stars

Hotel in Trapani City Centre, Trapani

Set in the Trapani City Centre of Trapani, Room Of Andrea is located 1.4 km from Trapani Port and 3.3 km from Funivia Trapani Erice. The staff were extremely helpful, particularly Francesco. We had problems picking up our hire car which meant that we had to take various buses and also hire a car in Trapani. The staff were very patient with us and really helpful in lending a hand in booking a replacement car and telling us when and where to go. It meant that we made the most of our trip. The room was also excellent, good value for money I thought, there was a nice pool and the breakfast was impressive.

Domìa Boutique Hotel Mondello 4 stars

Hotel in Mondello

Featuring an outdoor swimming pool, bar, garden and free WiFi, Domìa Boutique Hotel Mondello is located in Mondello, 400 metres from Mondello beach and 400 metres from Lido di Mondello. The hotel was spotlessly clean, beds were very comfortable and the pool area was ideal, quiet and a l10 minute walk from the beach. We had breakfast and dinner beside the pool with soft lighting and subtle jazz music playing in the background. But the highlight for us was the extreme courtesy and hospitality shown to us by the staff. Mariano even recorded the final day of the Ryder Cup golf for me as I had explained in advance that I would be flying to Palermo while it was on. Alessio was available to us throughout our stay at reception, at dinner, as our waiter recommending wines etc and when my husband arrived long after the kitchen had closed, he arranged a platter of cold meats, cheeses, bread and wine. Amazing! And then there was Angela. This girl could teach a course on hospitality. She gave endless advice and explanation of anything and everything that we needed and all with a pleasant smile and an attitude of ‘ nothing is too much trouble’. We will most definitely use this hotel again.

Santantonioresort 4 stars

Hotel in Riposto

Set in Riposto, 700 metres from Riposto Beach, Santantonioresort offers accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking, an outdoor swimming pool and a bar. Superb views - either green valleys with active volcano Etna dominating the skyscape, or wide open fully unobstructed sea. Staff excels at doing their work professionally. Their restaurant combines the coziness of interior and connectivity with an outdoor garden through fully retractable glass wall. The hotel garden area is quite spacious with a cute stone-clad pool and multiple sunbeds for you to decompose ) Large bathrooms with a door that blocks sounds well. And no crap like glass walls. All facilities are of a high standard and quality. Parking in a secured area, something you learned to think of in Italy. Though the area around looks peaceful and quite safe. It's a gem in whole Europe. Possibly the best hotel I stayed in several years. I am confident it is no less enjoyable in winter as in summer.

FAQs about hotels in Sicily

An Island of Intrigue

The largest Italian island, Sicily has long been a place of mystery and intrigue, coveted by civilisations. Its Greek history is most evident at Agrigento whose UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of the Temples has amazingly well-preserved Greek temples.

Also important to Greece was Siracusa. Archimedes was born here and there is a theatre and necropolis to explore. However, the most spectacularly located Greek theatre is at Taormina. Set on a hill overlooking the glorious Mediterranean Sea, this theatre points towards Mount Etna smoking away in the distance above Catania. Picturesque Taormina is one of the most popular Sicily resorts and down below there are some wonderful Giardini Naxos hotels on the beach, available on Booking.com.

Another resort boasting some of the best Sicily hotels for families is fabulous Cefalù. Home to a lovely beach, this small town is dramatically located at the foot of a mountain. To the north-west are the Aeolian Islands (also known as the Lipari Islands), volcanic islands with plunging cliffs and secret coves.

Back on the main island, the capital Palermo is a seductive mix of amazing architecture and laidback life. Trapani to the west is known for its salt flats, whereas Messina to the east is where trains drive straight onto the ferry to Reggio Calabria on the Italian mainland.
