The hotel is located at the very heart of Palermo city center. Within 10 minutes walking distance you can reach all the important monuments. The rooms are recently renovated and the bathroom is just excellent. The breakfast is very rich in a cosy restaurant at the ground floor. All these are easy to figure out from the map and by studying all the photos and info included in the various reviews. What might be harder to spot is the staff of the hotel that places heart and soul to make your stay truly memorable. I felt as if they already knew all my habits - always anticipating my needs. This took me completely by surprise.

Palermo FAQ: Tips for every trip

A Symbol of Sicily

Edgy and eclectic, Palermo is a symbol of all that Sicily stands for. From buzzing Vespas to the bustling Vucciria market, it simply brims with life.

Wonderful Palermo Cathedral glows radiantly in the Mediterranean sun. Nearby is the city’s last Sicilian Puppet Theatre, and opposite is a palm-filled park housing Roman mosaics, though the best are in the archaeological museum. At one end is the Norman Palace, a government building home to the fabulous Cappella Palatina whose gold mosaics are absolutely breathtaking.

Equally magnificent are the gold mosaics lining 12th-century Monreale Cathedral on the city’s outskirts. Wander the cloisters and note the varying columns and capitals – each pair is different.

Palermo also has fascinating churches: 2 of the oldest are 12th-century San Giovanni degli Eremeti and San Cataldo, each with red, Islamic-style domes. Gesú Church has an incredible Sicilian Baroque interior, while La Martorana’s frescoes are awe-inspiring. A street away is Quattro Canti, a crossroads with a fountain at each corner.

Other attractions include round Teatro Massimo, Mondello beach and Monte Pellegrino mountain overlooking the sea. You get fabulous views of this picnic spot as you fly into Palermo Airport before heading to your Booking.com accommodation.

It’s a great city and definitely worth visiting.

It’s a great city and definitely worth visiting. The atmosphere is vibrant, and you can still feel the authentic Italian vibe despite its diversity. Palermo is both historical and lively, with beautiful beaches that make the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it’s a joyful city that combines culture, history, and seaside charm.

Palermo: Dirty. Noisy. Stinking.

Palermo: Dirty. Noisy. Stinking. Garbage and rats on the streets. The center is better, at least you have a lot of wonderful things to see: the Cathdral, il Palazzo dei Normanni, a lot of gorgeous churches... Visit other places, go to Cefalu, to Monreale, to the beaches, to Taormina and Catania.

Enchanting city full of history.

Enchanting city full of history. Must see: The Cathedral,; The Palatine Chapel in the Palace of the Norman Kings; Quattro Canti. Monreale Cathedral (15/20 minutes away from Palermo by car). Palermo has a great night vibes in the pedestrian area. Plenty of restaurants, eateries, bars to choose from. Sicilian food is incredibly good.

Palermo in 2 days - mixed feelings.

Palermo in 2 days - mixed feelings. During the day the city center is very noisy and crowded with tourists, not comfortable for walking. The main sights - Palazzo Normanno and Palermo Cathedral - are worth visiting. Palatine Chapel is partially under restoration works. The best time to walk around is early morning or evening, when the city is quieter and relatively empty. Overall it's an interesting city, but the daytime hustle is tiring.

It was a very manic city and the road users had little respect for walkers or people trying to cross. Little restaurants close by so had to walk a way to town. No information in room for anything. Would have been ok in the centre but rather on a limb. More like a residential area. I night there would have been enough.

It's a dangerous, smelly city with many of the tourist attractions under construction so no access, but they don't tell you this when checking on websites! The whole city smells like urine, especially in the summer when it's hot & the nights are more humid than the day - it's all you can smell! My first few steps in the city from the train station, an older local lady warned me to remove all my jewellery as people will rip necklaces & earrings straight from your body & I wasn't wearing anything obvious either! The main bus no. 389 is filled with pickpockets & gangs who threaten violence - everyone knows this, even locals have been victims of these gangs but nobody does anything to remove these criminals. I wanted to see the famous Church at Monreale but it's not worth taking the 389 for this experience, so I missed out. The lack of safety for your bags, backpacks must be worn in front when lots of people around you, handbags across your body & to hold them - it's just not worth the stress! Restaurants are expensive & not guaranteed great food - some are fantastic, others are just terrible with many false reviews. I've travelled the world for more than 35yrs, I wish I could be more positive about Palermo but the limited good things, for example great Granita & Gelato everywhere, doesn't over-ride the overwhelming bad.

What a hidden gem in a bustling part of Palermo. Amazing little B&B with a lovely host. The room was exceptionally clean, very comfortable and way above my expectations - fantastic value. Breakfast is gorgeous - beats any large hotel buffet - and the cappucino made with love is the best I had during my 10 days in Sicily. The location is perfect - walking distance to the main sites. There's no lift however the host is happy to help with luggage so no problem at all. I cannot fault this place - will definitely be back.
