We visited Catania and stayed at Habitat Boutique Hotel as part of our honeymoon, and we could not have wished for a better start to our time in Sicily. The hotel is fantastically located in the historic city center, with everything within easy walking distance. It is also very easy to reach from the airport, as a bus takes you to within just a few hundred meters of the hotel. The staff were very pleasant and immediately made us feel well taken care of. Our room was spotless, modern, and at the same time very cozy and inviting. It was also wonderfully quiet, which made our stay especially relaxing. Breakfast was delicious as well, with a small but lovely selection of regional dishes. We are very grateful for such a wonderful first stay in Sicily and would wholeheartedly recommend Habitat Boutique Hotel for a couples’ trip to Catania.

FAQs about hotels in Catania

A Perfect Combination of Ancient and Modern

Located on Sicily’s eastern coast, at the foot of Mount Etna, Catania is the island’s second largest city. This charming destination features unique Sicilian Baroque architecture, large squares, avenues and a very important port.

On the northern side of the Cathedral Square, the historical Palazzo degli Elefanti houses the Town Hall of Catania. The Elephant Fountain is the city’s symbol and the entrance to the main shopping area. Surrounded by stunning Baroque buildings, Piazza del Duomo is a popular meeting point for tourists and locals.

Dedicated to Saint Agata and built over the Roman Baths of Achilles, the Duomo has an impressive facade that is one of Gia Battista Vaccarini’s masterpieces. The cathedral’s dome dates to 1802, while in the vaulted interior is the grave of the well-known composer Vincenzo Bellini.

Facing the Ionian Sea, this beautiful seaside place is one the hottest Italian cities during the summer. Mount Etna is an active volcano and a nice place for skiing in winter or a trip to the solidified rivers of lava during the rest of the year.

With the busiest airport in Sicily, Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, Catania is easily accessible by numerous European destinations like Munich, Rome and London. You can stay in one of the Catania hotels, guest houses or hostels Booking.com offers.

Beautiful and romantic city with so much to see.

Beautiful and romantic city with so much to see. Good location because you are fast to get to other destinations like Taormina, Syracuse, Etna vulcano etc... Italy is generally dirty, and Sicily especially because south of the Italy is poor, so i wouldnt recommend it to someone who cant handle that. Im personally okay with that and will come back here soon. Also you have to be aware that there are some neigborhoods that remind you of favelas, so check multiple times before booking your apartment. Catania is so pretty, people are welcome and food is delicious, and generally nothing is overprices. i definitely recommend this city.

Catania is a monumental city mixing baroque and art nouveau with many historical land marks, religious places and ideal starting place for day trips to Etna, Syracuse and Taormina. I recommend to visit the local vibrant cafe Savia, Bellini park, walk around via Etnea, St. Agata and Palazzo Biscari. If you like museums and you are interested in WWII then "Museo Storico dello Sbarco in Sicilia 1943" is a must see. From the ancient sites we have really enjoyed a less known "Terme della Rotonda".

It was a bit chaotic, but if you stay in the vicinty of the hotel Europa Centrale, Piazza Duomo, Via Etnea etc, it's safe. However don't venture near the market, as it is horrible. Transport is not of the best, and you have to always go to the bus station if you want to be sure to get your correct bus. Forget the tourist train ride, especially after dinner - it's an extremely bumpy ride, if you go with Hop on hop off bus to Acicastello, you might just as well remain on the bus, as there is nothing to see and there is no shade whatsoever. However the bus ride was enjoyable .

The main tourist parts look lovely and are obviously glammed up for Social Media pics but the rest of the city I found quite dirty with a tonne of graffiti. I guess I was expecting more beachside, less ghetto. The Fish Market and Restaurants are beautiful and everything is very cheap for such a high tourist area but it just needs a little bit of sparkle and a good scrub on the streets back from the main part

I recommend flying into Palermo instead of Catania.

I recommend flying into Palermo instead of Catania. Palermo is much prettier and scenic. I wasn't impressed by the landscape (or lack thereof) in Catania. Also with Catania there is always the risk of travel delays due to volcanic activity from Mount Etna, which is what happened to us. I probably wouldn't go there again. I would fly to Palermo or take the ferry from the mainland if you want to see Taormina or the Aeolian islands.

Unfortunately, our experience was not satisfactory.

Unfortunately, our experience was not satisfactory. The hygiene standards were not at the expected level, and we experienced several problems with the electricity during our stay. In addition, the owner was not able to assist us with safely storing our luggage until 2:00 p.m. before check-in. Overall, these issues significantly affected our stay and could be improved. You never can meet the owner. only via phone and typing, but not spoken!

This is a comfortable, well appointed hotel, which is very convenient for Catania Airport. (Only 10 minutes drive away.) We booked a sea-view room with balcony. We arrived about an hour early but kindly, the staff were still able to check us in straight away. The restaurant was fine, though only open 8pm-9.30pm. Breakfast was great with an extensive selection. Check out was really swift which helped us get to the airport on time. Parking is available on site. All staff were friendly and professional.

The location was excellent with plenty of restaurants within metres of the hotel. Fabio was an excellent host, met us at the door and even carried my wife's luggage up a flight of stairs. He also gave recommendations for local sightseeing. The room was very easily the most spacious and biggest we have stayed in in Italy. Breakfast on the terrace was fantastic. I would highly recommend Bellini Inn Dr luxe yo everyone for their stay in Catania.

It is a perfect located place for people who have an early morning flight. The property is less than 100 meters from Terminal C of Catania Airport. You can’t expect the conditions of a 4 or 5 star branded hotel, but I would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay somewhere quiet and clean near the airport. The bus station that takes you to the city center or the central station is 200 m away.
