I have very fond memories of my stays at the Grand Bell Hotel in Otaru. I don’t understand the negative reviews I’ve seen online. The room was indeed small, but perfectly clean and well maintained. The staff – young, friendly, and professional – were always helpful and created a welcoming atmosphere. A place I can definitely recommend.

Location was great, comfortable size for family of 3 adults and 3 kids. Nice to have a sofa area to rest. Kids loved the bunk beds. Each bunk bed has its own charging point and reading light. We managed to store our luggage (self service) at the storeroom while we headed to the market for lunch. 7-11 was nearby. Comfy pyjamas, a great place for a night stay before heading to the ski resort. Easy to call for a taxi.

The hotel offers great value for money. Just need to be aware that adults only means hotel for couples to go and have a private time. Many people staying only for a few hours. Room size is much better than any other hotel we stayed and had many extra perks such massage chair or ps4
