The omusubi guesthouse is a perfect destination if you want to explore Kyushu! We enjoyed the shared spaces and sleeping on the tatami mats. Rie was really friendly and helpful, she made a booking for us at the local restaurant and helped when I got sick. The house has a relaxed atmosphere and you can play Mario on a vintage Nintendo.

We were slightly sceptical about this place as it only had two reviews, but we are so glad we booked. This was a great guesthouse with traditional Japanese rooms in a gorgeous village. The host was incredibly helpful (even walking us to a local restaurant to make sure we got a space as everywhere was fully booked). We felt incredibly welcome, had comfy beds, a lovely room, and everything we needed.

Villa falo yamato offers rooms in Kumamoto. There is a private entrance at the villa for the convenience of those who stay.

Incredible experience and so well-equipped. We were personally greeted and given a very thorough rundown of the property. The remoteness gave it such a relaxing atmosphere.

Beds were very comfortable and warm! We arrived very late due to changes of our flights. The host left us the keys, a welcoming note in Dutch and treats for our kids, which was so kind and sweet! We had 2 rooms for our family of 5. It was clean and good. It was chilly in the house, but the warm beds and warm shower compensated it. The shared facilities were clean and good.

The view from the cabin was incredible - our own slice of mountain paradise. Only 20mins to Takachico Gorge.

Our host Stefano was so warm and welcoming he made our stay exceptionally good, we didn’t expect our room to be so well designed in a thoughtful Japanese style. If you are driving through this area, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property, we wish we could have stayed another night. To top it off Stefano is a chef, his restaurant is definitely worth a visit!
