Very thoughtful design - they organize limited space in perfect way. Small details gives art impression. I like every element of the design - the room, corridors, the small sitting area looking at the street, entrance, restaurant. Nice, really nice. Staff is friendly, too friendly - they explain in polite and smiling way all amenities the hotel offers. Rooms are small (hey, this is Japan) but well designed, so you do not feel limited in your living space. Cozy. Location is great for train station, for walks along the streets or for visiting places around with bus or train.

Absolutely loved Karuizawa. We went for shopping, good food and snowboarding!Wanted a local Japanese stay that was a easy 10 minute walk from station. This was it, place was huge and had good review after searching using only google maps! Family friendly, exceptional staff and huge place that easily fits 10 adults if you make use of 2 beds, sofa bed and tatami mat/room. Whole family loved the place.

From the moment of arrival to drop off at train station, top class treatment throughout. It’s a historic, well-established hotel nestled in a quiet forest catering to celebrities and well-heeled travelers since 1894. Service and meal offerings were spectacular; the rooms modern and well-appointed, on par with any four-and five star hotels. Something that really caught my attention was the cushioned floors in the room; walking on them gave a level of comfort I’ve not felt at other hotels. And end your day at the iconic bar where John Lennon entertained those gathered on that piano when he stayed here.

The hotel was a pleasant 10 minute walk from the Karuizawa Shinkansen Station. The hotel was just renovated less than a month ago and the entire property was beautifully put together. The staff were incredible, the hotel manager was seemed to be running the whole place himself, overseeing the room preparations, handling our check-in, serving us as the bartender at the hotel bar in the evening all with expert grace and consideration. We had no idea when we booked the hotel but we were provided a wonderful seasonal welcome drink upon arrival(I believe it was a lemonade/earl-grey spritzer), complimentary drinks in our refrigerator(100%peach juice, 100% apple juice, and a hard apple cider), and a complimentary sake tasting at the bar for each us. The rooms were beautifully put together looking out over a beautiful Japanese garden and pond. You could truly appreciate the incredible attention to detail that has been put into every part of the rooms and experience by the hotel owners and staff.

    Karuizawa is a little gem "off the beaten track" for mist travelers to Japan. A tourist loop bus makes it easy to explore. There are coffee shops, restaurants, shops, & onsens. Excellent hiking too! And for those who like to shop, there's a huge outlet mall right next to the train station.

    We had a good time at the Ski Resort and the Shopping...

    We had a good time at the Ski Resort and the Shopping Outlets and plenty of Food Choices. We were able to hike going to Hoshino Olsen and also had a wonderful breakfast in the area. The outdoor ice skating area was also great. Bus schedules are far in between but you can opt to take taxi although more expensive

    We spent a couple of nights here so my kids can do a ski lesson on one of the days. One could certainly choose to take a day trip from Tokyo for such an activity. However, we wanted to get away from the big city that is Tokyo and it was such a lovely experience. By some stroke of luck, it started snowing as well so that's a bonus for my kids. Around the train station and at the Prince hotel 'mall' there is a 7-11 and a number of restaurants that are pretty good. We did not manage to visit the falls unfortunately. All in all, the quiet serene character of Karuizawa was very much appreciated.

    Beautiful area with an Alpine feel.

    Beautiful area with an Alpine feel. Plenty of great restaurants. Lots of beautiful nature and hiking. Definitely take the bus up to Shiraito Falls, a unique waterfall like nothing you’ve ever seen.

    It is such a beautiful town, we did a bicycle tour with a guide and you can basically cover and get to know most of the town and heritage that way. We went in early June and the weather was perfect, cool and just right. 6 days was just nice for us.

    Karuizawa offers an amazing small town charm with excellent food, friendly people, and accessible nature. Definitely check out the Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel tour to view Musasabi! The only downside to this beautiful town is that it's a bit more pricey than the rest of Japan.

    This is a hotel located in a country golf club. Facilities first class. Dinner was a 4 course western fine dining.. scallop appetiser done 2 ways, a fish, a meat dish and dessert. Fantastic meal.
