Beautiful modern hotel. Stunning lobby. 7 / 11 is almost a part of the hotel, there is a secret entrance/exit to get to and from. Parking Lot just behind the hotel. You can get to it via the lobby next to 7/11. Short walk to train station. The room was very nice. Got 2 double beds. Spacious enough for a few nights.

This hotel and staff was great! The breakfast buffet was amazing and even down to the convenient parking since it was in such a busy area. Location was also great since it was in walking distance to everything.

The hotel staff was kind and helped us with a quick check-in. It was possible to store our luggage before check-in time. The room felt much bigger than we expected and the balcony was very nice despite it being cold. It also gave a nice view of the city. Location was close to some good food and the main shopping street.

There is a vibe about Sendai that is youthful and exuberant. It has a lot to offer and is a relaxed city. There is a good music scene here, pretty varied from my limited exploration. A lot of pop / idol-type of things are going on, which is quite interesting. Hanging around, chilling out, meeting friends on the raised walkways by the front of the station seems to be the thing to do of an early evening for young Japanese people, and as such has an easy-going vibe. Indeed, there are occasional pop-up performances from groups which adds a nice sound to the evening. If you like a good walk, why not stroll on up to the ruins of Sendai castle, which is on a hill just outside the main city area. It is the perfect distance for a good bit of exercise, but won't leave you exhausted. The view from the castle grounds is delightful, but don't expect much castle!

We enjoyed our stay in Sendai. Hotel Monterey was very close to the station. It has an old world Praque theme which is a little outdated but very comfortable. We booked a corner room which was large, had writing desk, coffee and tea facilities and a large bath. The single room for our son however was a little spartan. The hotel breakfast was great and kicked started our day of exploring. We really enjoyed the onsen spa every evening. The temple was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed the day we spent at Matsushima Bay. Local train journey was easy and cheap as was the boat trip around the bay for 800 yen for an hour cruise. Exploring the island close by was delightful. Overall a very good few days in this area of Japan.

It's a wonderful city to visit and I wish we had spent more than the three days to explore its many neighborhoods and shopping districts. It seems like there is a great deal going in Sendai, while remaining a clean and orderly metro area. You can't beat the food options or its proximity to one-in-a-lifetime views like Matsushima or Geibeiki Gorge.

Beautiful city, plenty of trees and shade and I loved the arcade shopping streets. There's lots of open spaces and places to grab a seat, and all of the food I had was excellent. I visited Aoba Castle ruins and really enjoyed the walk, and there's excellent views of the city. I think Sendai is a great choice for a short break.

The city is beautiful and people are all extremly nice and helpful even through they don't speak English well. I loved it there, it felt like home. I wish I could have stayed longer. I really liked all the parks and temples and observatory view was amazing. We came during Tanabata festival so city centre was decorated and had live performers on the street. Yamadera temple is really good option for a one day trip near Sendai.

There are plenty of attractions and gourmet food in the city, but less crowded compared to Kanto or Kansai. With the Sendai Maguroto pass, the transportation in Sendai and surounding area, such as Yamadera, Matsushima, Shiraishi, and Akiu, is very convenient for me.

I have to say the view nearby from Matsushima is simply amazing (~30 min by train from Sendai station)! I also very much enjoyed the walk through the mausoleum grounds, but the rest is very much "just a city", and I didn't find anything else that was particularly interesting for me. The local specialty of beef tongue is nice, but quite pricey for what it is (it should be noted I'm mainly vegetarian, so meat-lovers might feel differently!).

Sendai is known as the City of Trees - and for good reason. There's an insane amount of massively large and tall cedar trees everywhere! It's a very easily walkable city and if you need to go to parts beyond there's great transport links, either via the metro, overland train (JR), trams, or even the Sendai City Loople Bus - which takes you around to about a half dozen major attractions - think hop on / hop off. Must see spots in Sendai are Rinnouji Temple, Zuihoden Mausoleum, Sendai Castle (Aoba Castle), and a little further out of the city (about an hour by train) is Yamadera Temple - not to be missed! The city is centred around the massive train station in the centre of town and it does not disappoint. There's floors of shopping, restaurants, groceries, fancy food vendors, anything you could want. If you can't find anything in the labyrinthian corridors of the station, venture outside to the over 2500 restaurants and bars. I challenge you to not find something - anything - to satiate yourself with.

Tanebata is very nice to visit. Castle was in our opinion not very interesting, Zui hoden is really worth a visit. Beef tongue is a delicious dish! Sendai is very good to visit Mashushima bay, and that is really a wonderful place to go

Being one of the bigger cities next to Tokyo it has plenty of food options available with their own cuisines and specialties. Cow tongue/gyu-tan is a must try along with their zunda/soy bean deserts. Plenty of cultural and historic things to see and do with Sendai Castle though the hike can be a bit intense since the road up is steep. Be prepared leave early in the morning in order to travel far out of Sendai to see other scenic attractions especially if its by train.

We absolutely loved our stay at KOKO Kotodaikoen!!!! We had a very stressful trip so far but the hotel was so relaxing and the staff so kind. Perfect spot for exploring Sendai, next to many bus stops and a lovely short walk from the shopping streets. We ended up extending our stay in Sendai for 4 more nights in large part due to how much we loved the hotel. There was also a pretty significant earthquake when we were there, and the building swaying stayed gentle and relaxing 😆
