Room was neat and tidy with almost everything you need. Towels, toothbrush and hairbrush and other toiletries were provided, which was good. Nice size fridge as well. The aircon and wifi was appreciated, with good speed. Bathroom was very retro, but functional, although I'm not sure how you get out of the tub if you use it as its very deep! Water pressure and water temp also more than adequate. Location and access was good, only 15 mins by bus to Hakata Station ( walkable if keen). Plenty bus options from various stops. Local subway also accessible, which was good for sightseeing. I think in general this is a great apartment if staying for several nights, especially for 1-2 but it would be a tight squeeze for 3 people to stay for any length of time comfortably.

Unlike the Miyako in Kyoto, this 208-room property is not associated with Westin/Marriott. The hotel is relatively new, around four years old when writing this. We picked the Miyako Hotel Hakata for its excellent location right adjacent to the Hakata train station. The reception is on the third floor. The staff is friendly and professional, and the rooms are excellent - very spacious and bright. Fully equipped with any amenities you might need and with fantastic beds and pillows. The lights, curtains and drapes are controlled by a tablet on a bedside table. The hotel features a lovely outdoor pool on the top floor amd also has a good restaurant for breakfast and dinner. We tried the ten course dinner and it was very good. When in Fukuoka we will pick the Miyako again. One of the top hotels we have stayed at during our many hotel nights in Japan. We loved the Sumiyoshi area as it was relatively close to...

We loved the Sumiyoshi area as it was relatively close to Hakata Station (15 minutes) and all its shops and restaurants. Not far to Tenjuin by train and more shops and train connections. We really enjoyed the cherry blossoms around Fukuoka and the lovely range of spring flowers, especially the tulips and emerging azaleas
