Surrounded by countryside, this youth hostel offers breakfast buffets and wonderful mountain views. It lies between Schaan and Vaduz, a 5-minute drive from the Swiss border and the A13 motorway. It was very clean, quiet, modern and easy to find and travel to and from. Doing laundry was free and the staff was super helpful and kind.

Family Mountain View - Upper Alley is located in Buchs. The property is 10 miles from Bad Ragaz, and guests benefit from complimentary WiFi and private parking available on site. Place is surrounded with mountains which is an amazing feature. You can look through every window (on wake-up, during breakfast or lunch), and see mountains. Also, this place is very convenient to visit lots of places around - Davos, St. Gallen, Zurich, Lucerne, Konstanz, or to go up to Santis. At the place, three separate bedrooms serve perfectly for larger family. Hosts are very hospitable, responding quickly to any question.
Nothing was open. There's no city center that we could find, and everything was deserted. We looked all over for a cafe or ice cream place but found nothing. We really wanted a souvenir shop for Liechtenstein stickers and postcards... Found nothing at all.
Liechtenstein is small but perfectly formed. You can cycle along the Rhine from one end of the country and back to the other in a day along a flat route, but there is also great mountain biking, hiking and skiing in winter. The local bus network is very extensive and the Tageskarte can get you anywhere in the country with ease. It's worth going up to Malbun, the ski resort, even in summer, when you can see the marmottes and maybe see eagles too. It's a modern country but there are historic buildings. Sadly, you can't get inside either Schloss Vaduz or Schloss Gutenburg.
I came mainly to watch our girls’ volleyball team to play in EU championship of small countries, however had a chance to explore a bit and the place is beautiful; you won’t find any souvenir shop here though, apparently there are some shops in nearby Vaduz. Many opportunities for hiking (easy walk up to Vaduz castle, but prince of Liechtenstein doesn’t want to be disturbed 😊)cycling, roller skating... Although the food is nice, Eating out is very expensive in Liechtenstein.
The hotel is a bit outside of Vaduz with a farm field just next to it. It's wonderfully quiet, clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay apart from something the staff said (see below). Breakfast was really good, too.
