The entire team were so friendly and helpful during our stay. Everyone is so passionate and knowledgeable, we loved the spice tour and the ayurvedic massages! The room was spotless and the food was delicious. One of our favourite ever holidays.

We chose to stay here for a few days after we landed at midnight from NZ . Beautiful property. Very comfortable, everything clean and staff exceptionally helpful & friendly. The property is a wonderful historic house that has been maintained to a high standard. The pool is amazing and overlooks the beautiful lake. The food is really good and the property gardens are on an impressively beautiful lake.The staff , chef, manager were all incredible and made us feel so welcome. They gave us a tour of the property’s coconut grove and gardens with cuisine menu sourced from fruit and veges grown on site, as well as guided complementary visit to local temple , weavers and a bike ride around the lake.

Luminosium is truly special, and we left feeling like we’d experienced something rare. The villa itself is wonderfully spacious — two bedrooms, a clean and well-appointed bathroom, and a real sense of privacy. But what sets this place apart is everything beyond the four walls. The garden is unlike anything we’ve encountered. It’s a living, breathing ecosystem, home to endemic Sri Lankan birds and wildlife we hadn’t expected to find just steps from our verandah. Every morning felt like a nature documentary unfolding right in front of us. Auntie Malani prepared our breakfast, lunch and dinner — all genuine Pannala-style traditional dishes, slow-cooked using spices and ingredients sourced entirely from the garden. A true garden-to-table experience in the most literal sense. The host deserves equal praise. He is passionate, knowledgeable, and generous with his time — sharing his vision for the garden, his understanding of the local plants, and introducing us to a beautiful local coffee ritual using home-grown beans. That morning coffee on the verandah, surrounded by birdsong, is something we won’t soon forget. The location is convenient without taking anything away from the sense of peaceful seclusion. Whether you’re a nature lover, a slow traveller, or simply someone in search of a truly restorative stay in Sri Lanka — this is it. We cannot recommend it highly enough!
