It is a paradise. Everything is so pretty. There are so many details everywhere. The place is so calm and clean, the music and the smell is so relaxing. The staff is so nice, specially Majda and Zacharie, who made our stay better. The spa is perfect, I would definitely recommend, Maria and Maja did the hammam and the massage, they have wonderful hands.

The accommodation fully met our expectations. The staff was very kind, attentive, and helpful at any hour of the day, always willing to assist. Breakfast was traditional and tasteful, and as a nice gesture, packed breakfasts were prepared for early departures. A more spacious room was offered for stays longer than a day. The terrace was great, and the Wi-Fi worked without any issues. Everything was exceptionally clean, including the towels and bed linen provided. The only recommendation would be to consider installing a magnetic door lock and a home intercom system, so the door can be opened remotely upon arrival.

Riad ruh Fes is a beautiful, quiet oasis within the busy Madina of Fes. It is a home away from home with beautifully and thoughtfully designed rooms and the essential Moroccan charm. The owner Youssef was extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. The terrace is a great spot to get some winter sun and unwind. I highly recommend Riad Ruh Fes and look forward to visiting again!

We couldn’t have had better hosts. So welcoming! This recently restored Riad in the quieter but very interesting Jewish quarter was fully decorated in Moroccan style by local artisans. We were particularly grateful for the airconditioned room and the cool sitting/dining area. Our hosts catered to all our food preferences and gave us all the information and practical help we needed to make the most of our stay in Fes.

Fès is a kaleidoscope of colours, smells and sensations, and its intricate urban design is an allegory of its own identity. Live up to the pace of this ancient Babel, and go the whole hog immerging yourself into its 1001 Nights atmosphere. Check out the Booking.com hotel deals in fascinating Fès and enjoy!

Commonly spelled Fez, this city was Morocco’s capital during Middle Ages. The city was originally composed of two separate settlements located along the banks of the Jawhar River. Madinat Fas was founded in 789 by Idris I, while Al-'Aliya was founded by his son Idris II. Both towns grew autonomously until the Almoravids unified them in 1070 under the name ‘Fas’. The city is still considered a beacon of the Islamic civilisation, due to its ancient ‘madrasas’ Islamic colleges.

The Old Town or ‘medina’ has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing one of the best preserved historic centres in the world. The famous ‘riads’ or small traditional hotels are located in the medina, which is also called Fes Al-Bali.

The city can be reached through Fès Saïss Airport, or from the airports in Casablanca and Rabat via railway or bus connection. Whether you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Fez New Town or a historic ‘riad’ in the medina, don’t miss Booking.com’s wide offering!

City with a lot of history and culture however it's difficult for tourists to truly access its heritage. The Medina is full of hasslers and stores selling cheap products, catered only to tourists. While you can get lost and find a more authentic soul, the overall experience felt too much touristy for my taste.

it is amazing!

it is amazing! a lot of good places to visit not just for sight seeing, going around the whole city is experience itself, from the square, garden, narrow roads, tannery, hills, medina, food, just simply a lot of things to experience... and it is very authentic which makes it beautiful and amazing!

Comparing Fes to Marrakesh...

Comparing Fes to Marrakesh...Fes was a much more scenic city with lots of greenery around the centre. I highly recommend a hike up the hill at the top of the Medina to see an incredible view of the whole city. The Medina does not allow scooters so it was much less chaotic than in Marrakesh. Just outside of the blue gate of the Medina you'll find a lovely square where families meet in the evenings, and another square just across the road from that. It makes for a lovely stroll after dinner, seeing how the locals gather with family and friends.

The vibrant Medina, the University of al-Qarawiyyin, the historic Bou Inania Madrasa are amazing, but the pungent smelling Chouara Tannery, early in the morning beofre the crowds pack in, was the highlight of our trip. So inspiring that 5 of us walked away with 5 new leather jackets - not sure if our negotiations were aggressive enough, but under half the initial offer seemed ok! After the long drive from Mergouza, we opted to walk only, which was perfect to experience old Fes. Some of us did the Clock Tower Cooking class (well organized and highly enjoyable), involving selecting and butchering your live chicken in the nearby market - truly authentic...!

I wasn't sure what to expect of Fes.

I wasn't sure what to expect of Fes. I'm not really a big fan of cities, but, as the former capital and the largest medina in the world, I knew I couldn't skip it. I'm so glad we went. It was raining and cold, but we still enjoyed our guided tour of the medina. There is such history and amazing architecture to learn about. As compared to Marrakech, which after two weeks traveling the country feels just too touristy, Fes feels like the real Morocco. From visiting the communal ovens, where residents can bring their bread to be baked each day to exploring a madrassa and admiring the amazing woodwork and plaster carvings, Fes has a lot to offer. Our guide was Mohammad from Get your Guide. He was amazing.

The accommodation is really nice and it has a traditional Moroccan style, located just at the entrance of the old Medina so you don't get lost. During breakfast they serve the best bread and crepes we had in Morocco. Our host, Monein, is very kind and helpful. He also helped us organising a 3 days tour to the Merzouga desert starting from Fes and taking us to Marrakech, asking us for feedbacks so he could make sure of the quality of the experience.

The staff were really helpful with everything we needed in out first stay at Fès. They were open, patient and had great solutions every time. Food was delicious and yes you NEED a guide when you are in Fès if it is your first time. The Medina is huge and complicated to navigate compared to other places in Morocco, but it is such a great experience. Once in the hotel there is no noise, it's like a little oasis with its old architecture. Really cool.

The position is very strategic, close to the old medina door. The riad has a beautiful interior garden, probably the most beautiful I have stayed in Morocco. The pool on the rooftop very relaxing.
