FAQs about hotels in Macau

Developing on History

Macau is the true east meets west philosophy. Buddhist temples coexist with Baroque churches, peaceful oriental parks are overshadowed by mega-casinos and cobblestone streets are filled with rickshaws.

Hong Kong’s neighbour across the Pearl River strait consists of the mainland that borders the People's Republic of China and 2 major islands joined by the Cotai Strip. Coloane island is a natural wonderland with its mountains and beaches, whereas Taipa includes Macau International Airport and residential suburbs.

The prominent Macau Tower dominates the skyline of this former Portuguese colony and denotes the coming of age of modern-day Macau. It has set the stage for an economic boom with Vegas-style casinos lining the Macau Peninsula waterfront.

Historic sites and cuisine are important factors in this shining tourism star of China. St. Paul’s Cathedral was the largest Catholic church in Asia at the time with its ruins dating back to the 16th century. The fusion of Mediterranean flavours and traditional Chinese cooking methods makes eating out in the capital an unforgettable experience.

You are sure to find a hotel to fit your budget on Booking.com. There are 5-star beachside hotels, business accommodation and mid-range hotels for all types of travellers.

It is a Gamblers Paradise this side of the Asia better than Las Vegas with super Luxury Hotels and also Medium range Hotels. Well connected from Hongkong by Road and also Ferry. Road is the best and fastest. Nice ancient Landmarks and city is neat and clean. Number of Massage Places and great Shopping Experience. ideally a 3/4 days Holidays to rejuvenate.

Expected more from Macau! Everywhere just felt overcrowded.

Expected more from Macau! Everywhere just felt overcrowded. Appears to be a beautiful city heavily influenced by Portugal! Unfortunately, my experience was not a good one, hence I cannot recommend it to family or friends. Casinos were underwhelming! The best part about the trip was finding the restaurant “ ALBERGUE 1601”, food and staff were excellent.

In a nutshell, Macau is a kind of chaos.

In a nutshell, Macau is a kind of chaos. Layers of Portuguese colonial history and the blending of Catholic and Chinese traditions, recognized together as 'World Heritage Sites,' traditional Cantonese lifestyle, and dazzling, glittering casinos — all these exist side by side in a small district next to Hong Kong. Enjoy this chaotic mix without focusing on just one side of it, like the casinos! Separately, Macau in August is extremely hot and humid — this was the stormiest, sweatiest weather I have ever experienced. I would definitely recommend using Uber, since it relaunched in Macau (as a taxi-booking service) at the start of 2026.

Macau's main highlights can easily be explored in two or...

Macau's main highlights can easily be explored in two or three days, or even as a day trip. However, the city is equally rewarding when enjoyed at a more relaxed, local pace. The Macau Peninsula is highly walkable, allowing visitors to discover its distinctive blend of cultures, architecture, and neighbourhoods on foot. Macau also makes an excellent base for exploring the wider region. From here, it is easy to take day trips to Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and destinations further afield, thanks to the city's excellent location and transport connections. Whether you are visiting for a short stay or a longer trip, Macau offers far more than a typical weekend destination. The food is outstanding, and both Portuguese and Macanese cuisine are well worth experiencing. Their unique blend of flavours and culinary traditions is one of Macau's greatest attractions, alongside its UNESCO-listed Historic Centre, which reflects the city's rich cultural heritage and unique position as a meeting point between East and West.

Very friendly and exceedingly helpful staff. Special thanks to front desk staff Daniel Kwan who went out of his way to assist us in getting to the border in time for our return to Hong Kong. The restaurant servers were also very attentive. Food at breakfast is hand-down the best I have ever had at any 5-star hotels around the world!

Customer service is perfect, check in was fast and they even accompanied you to the lift which is away from the reception. There are free hotel shuttle buses from the Macau airport which makes it even more convenient. Conrad even prepared a cake for our anniversary celebration, a nice touch to make our stay even more memorable.

European style, clean, lots of eateries around. The hotel is at the foot of the Guia hill. We arrived at the hotel at 3 a.m. The taxi from HZMB (Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge) to Guia Hotel at night costs 100 MOP (or HKD) for 2 people with 2 large luggage.
