Set in Niamey, less than 0.6 mi from Clinic, Bravia Hotel Niamey offers accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking, an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness center. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best hotel in all of Niamey. I even visited some of the others to compare, out of curiosity. It has a beautiful architectural design and one feels peace upon entering the building. One is greeted by smiles from every staffmember - each one of them greets you and smiles every single time they see you! They truly care about your wellbeing. The manager is incredible and greets you personally and is always offering to be of help. The room is so comfortable, I feel at home. There is a big window with a nice view. Lots of cupboard space and a safety lock box. TV with loads of channels. Wifi works well. Design of the room is practical and functional. Nice bathroom. The restaurant is awesome with incredible food - and very reasonably priced. The breakfast is one of the best I have ever had - Huge variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, juices, among other things (hot dishes, pastries, etc). The grounds are well maintained and there is a large outdoor area in the back with swimming pool, tables for drinks and socializing, etc. The manager personally assisted me with a number of issues. The price is amazing value for money. The surrounds are peaceful and quiet for an amazing night's sleep. I wish to encourage others who have stayed here to please put up your reviews - This hotel really deserves a perfect 10/10 score and I wish to see that happen as soon as possible - we need to reflect the true quality of this amazing property in Niamey - one of the best hotels in all of Africa, as far as I'm concerned. Bravo to the whole team! I rarely write reviews - but I absolutely had to put up this review and commend this hotel for its great service. Personally, I feel this hotel is the best kept secret in Niamey.

A large developing country capital.
A large developing country capital. People are friendly, but looking to make money off of all foreigners. The markets are energetic, but security is somewhat of a problem. Government destroyed many small shop stalls to make room for development, but people who had stalls (which were not legal, but were their livelihood) did not receive any compensation. This has caused resentment and spike in petty criminality. Take a trip outside of Niamey to really understand the character of Niger. Also, visit the National Museum across street and overpass in front of old Gawaye Hotel.

Nice city with friendly people.
Nice city with friendly people. It usually serves as a transit to more historical city northwards such as Agadez, Zinder or Ayorou, but Niamey has got its own charm: the Grand Mosque, the zoo, the cathedral of Maorey, etc.

Niamey is well worth a visit;
Niamey is well worth a visit; The National Museum is neat to see- my favorite parts were the Tree of Tenere and the dinosaur skeletons- both of these are always view-able. One should be aware that many of the exhibit buildings are closed for several hours in the middle of the day- from around 1230 to 1530- so we weren't able to visit any while we were there. Many of the animals live in cages or enclosures that I think are too small, and I wouldn't have visited the "zoo" had it not been part of the museum grounds, but I don't know the story behind each of the creatures and don't want to place judgment on how or why they are kept there in that manner. I also wasn't overly thrilled with being hassled by souvenir vendors on the museum grounds, but they do have slim pickings with so few tourists. The Grand Mosque and the Cathedral are nice to check out; the mosque can be entered and photographed, but "donations" for both the mosque itself as well as for the guide will be expected; the cathedral is on guarded grounds, and the guard forbade pictures without express permission from his boss, who was not available to ask at the time. The two big hotels are nice places to visit and have a drink or meal at (either poolside or with view of the Niger river), just know you and your belongings will undergo security checks and screening. At the moment, Niamey is not frequented by many tourists, and especially not ones who don't speak (much) French- it would be much more difficult to travel there without any knowledge of French at all.
