City Hotel de Jonge is located in the center of Assen's shopping district, a 30-minute drive from Groningen. There is a restaurant with a spacious terrace. Guests benefit from free WiFi. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and helped us with some ice for foot pain. Our stay was one of the best in the NL. Thanks.
Van der Valk Hotel Assen is a 4-star hotel, set just off the A28 highway to Groningen. It is located at the edge of the Baggelhuizerplas and at a distance of 1.6 mi from Assen. We did not have breakfast. The bathroom was great. It was a very nice comfortable room.
This hotel is located near to Asserbos on the city limits of Assen, 10 minutes' drive from the TT Circuit. The facilities were clean and well organized. The accommodations are starting to show its years but people are doing a good job keeping it up. Althoug the hotel was full and the hotel's section of the parking lot was fully occupied, there are more alternatives to park your vehicle. The breakfast was excellent and varied. I was in the area for business and didn't have time to explore the rest of the complex, but evidently more is offered that a simple stay, should you happen to be with your family.

Located a 15-minute walk from city center of Assen, Bed & Breakfast 28 appartement met ruime tuin offers spacious accommodations with a private garden and free WiFi. Good location and space for our motorbikes to park. Lots of room: 3 beds, kitchen, bathroom with a bath and separate shower, separate toilet. 2 televisions and good wifi Garden with enough space to sit and relax The breakfast was more then enough, maybe to much for most travellers!
We travelled to Assen to attend an important art exhibition at the Drents. We had no other itinerary, other than to see the exhibition, and leave. What a pleasant surprise! Friendly, engaging locals, and a pretty little town that is really easy to get around. We stayed the night, and were happy we did. An unforeseen highlight of our visit to Holland.
Assen is a beautiful city, and is perfect for a visit, We go every year for the BSB races, we always come away feeling like we want to stay longer, locals are so friendly, the streets are clean, I always visit Deer Park a lovely park with friendly Red Deer who will happily take carrots off passing visitors. Take the walk or cycle through Asserbos a wood full of paths and trees with bird houses on them the Dutch care. Eating out is full of choices, various restaurants are located in the square. The station is in the centre so go to Gronigen a city of diversity and students, the museum is worth a visit, marvel at the Martino Tower and walk up to the top for a view of Gronigen. Train takes 17 minutes. Two hours away is Amsterdam and trains are comfy, regular (even on Sunday) so no excuses.
There are lots of places to eat and drink in Assen but the town is incredibly quiet at night with no one walking about. This gives a bit of a dead atmosphere in my opinion. Not the place to go if you want to party. Fortunately, for me anyway, this meant quiet nights with plenty of sleep.
Clean, friendly and vibrant town, plenty of food options, reasonable pricing, keep your eyes peeled for cyclists, they appear from nowhere! Transport good, trains, buses and taxis all at the same location, bikes for hire to enable you to become one of the traveling masses!
Assen is a small and quite city in north Holland, I wouldn’t make a speacial trip only to visit here, but if it’s on your way, you will find a lively center with shops and great restaurants with delicious food! I especially recommend the Tapas bar Villa Tapas and on Wednesdays morning there’s a market right in the center. Nice to walk around.
Assen is a paradise place! So compact, but so classic and historical. There are many cute houses, cozy cafes and restaurants in the center. Visit also the museum and the garden with birds in the forest.
Our hosts were very welcoming. We arrived early and were very grateful that we could check in an hour early. The accommodation was absolutely lovely, and we were provided with coffee, tea ect. It was extremely clean and the facilities were exceptional. The location was excellent and we were just a few minutes walk to the centre of Assen where there are lots of shops and cafes.
Really much larger with more facilities that I thought ... very large buffet restaurant for all means but a great bistro type restaurant open all day with great friendly service. Pool was great for children and an outside one if weather good - as it was - was great. Room really comfortable and good shower. 15 minute nice walk to Assen town. They do rent bikes too if needed.
Great spa. Comfortable spacious room with terras. We travelled with a dog which was not allowed in the restaurant but we could dine in the bar without leaving our dog alone in the room. For breakfast, there are tables in the lobby which provide a solution. There is a forest next to the hotel. Breakfast had many choices and was good value for money.
The accommodation was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The whirlpool bath was a luxury. The host was very kind and friendly, offering a nice apple pie on arrival and serving a beautiful and delicious breakfast each morning. The picturesque hikes in the surrounding area are easy to reach and well sign posted.
The facilities were excellent, in good state and clean. Staff was very helpful before and during our stay. The restaurant was very accommodating with our dietary preferences.
The location is perfect in Assen, right in the center, close to restaurants and bars. It was easy to find and has good parking. Nice building !
The hosts were very friendly. Location and accommodation was exceptional.
