Queenstown has to be a highlight of any trips to the South Island. It is also central to the Otago region and is the centre of sporting and adventure. Also caters to travelers who may not want to jump out of perfectly good planes. Restaurant scene not as good as it was due to post Covid staffing blues still being a challenge. But if you have self-contained accommodation its not a problem.
Excellent facilities including quality restaurants pubs and cafes. Picturesque walks and friendly locals. Gondola ride to restaurant and backdrop of views world class and unforgettable. On the street, business owners are welcoming and encouraging of your engagement. Multitude of tourist facilities appealing BUT not as appealing as the friendly nature of the locals. Is this the town where Arnie first uttered “I’ll be back!”
We found Queenstown traffic quite congested. Walking to and around town is easy and really a necessity. We thought the Gondola grossly overpriced. We loved ballooning. Walks at Moke Lake and the Botanic Gardens were well worth it. We had some excellent meals, esp at Bombay Palace. being older we did not frequent the night life but it seemed to have an excellent vibe. Walking around town we never saw a police presence but never felt uncomfortable at all (the whole of NZ pretty much meets that standard). i would love to return and do the Milford Sound hikes
If you like adventure and physical activity this is the place to come and stay. Beautiful scenery with lots of options to explore. Great food at Blue Kanu, and Botswana Butchery with great local wines. Lots of walks and cycle tracks.
So much to do in Queenstown, we only had 2 night and was recommended stay at least 3 so we did. Could’ve stayed longer. Absolutely amazing place and beautiful! Everyone should go there! Drive places too. We took a drive the morning before we flew out, up to Glenorchy and we wished we had more time to stay there. It’s just beautiful!
Queenstown is a must visit! It's absolutely beautiful, sat on a gorgeous lake surrounded by mountains. There is so much to do and see - the list is endless, from adrenaline fuelled trips on power boats and bunjee jumping to vineyard tours and tastings. You simply can't get bored of Queenstown.
The staff at the hotel were brilliant and did their utmost to make our stay one to remember. Breakfast was excellent and the choice varied and of a high quality. Added to this we had wine and canapes each evening for an hour and this allowed us to meet and chat to other guests as well as gain more information about Queenstown. The hotel was within 10 minutes easy walk of the centre of town and many of the attractions and shops. The hotel had free underground parking with a lift to the reception area.
Queenstown
This boutique guest house was incredible! My partner and I stayed for 3 nights. The staff were amazing & extremely accommodating - from an early check in to overall service. The location was fantastic as well. Queenstown is built on a hill. It was just 1 steep street to the city centre. Couldn’t have been easier to get to and from town. The bed. We usually stay in mainstream hotels, but the mattresses are always terrible. Our room had the most comfortable bed I’ve ever stayed on.
Out of town location actually a plus for Queenstown, as the centre is constantly busy with traffic and jams. You can easily drive the back roads from the hotel and park near the centre, avoiding the main road. This is an unassuming hotel on first appearance, but the staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the facilities were great. Restaurant was surprisingly good and the restaurant/bar manager was very friendly and helpful.
Loved this place after a recent BAD stay down the road at the HEARTLAND HOTEL🤬 on New Years Eve. I will stay at the Copthorne Hotel and Apartments every time I come to Queenstown. The staff were lovely. We got the room we booked. It was clean, neat, modern and with the best view and great balcony. The Wi-Fi was great. It was a short walk into town. There was plenty of undercover parking. The shower was large with great preasure
Location of the hotel is good walking distance, block away from the Queenstown shopping Centre. Hotel foyer check in lovely, nice staff very friendly & accommodating, nice size & clean room, bed comfortable, breakfast very nice, Husband & I had to travel early the day we check out, thank you to the very kind Hotel staff that had organized a take away breakfast for us which we enjoyed on our journey.
The Rees is the best place to stay in Queenstown. For those without a hire car, the complimentary shuttle service every hour was outstanding and made such a huge difference to our stay. The views are incredible and the location of the hotel (just out of town) was perfect to escape the bustle of the city centre. Will definitely stay again!
Location near remarkable shopping centre ( includes countdown/ woolworths) and near public bus stop that allows access all around Queenstown. The rooms were clean and functional. We had a room with a kitchenette which was very handy. There is an on-site cafe and cafe/ restaurants in the strip of hotels.
Queenstown
Amazing location, looking out over the lake. Easy to catch the bus or drive into the centre of Queenstown. The apartment had everything you needed from kitchen utensils to bathroom products and private drive. Communal facilities were also fab. It was also really clean, everything seemed brand new.
Queenstown
Two strong free Wi-fi signals to choose from, Smart TV with free access to Netflix, all normal T.V channels, comfy Queen size bed, heaps of water pressure with the shower over bath, fantastic views, friendly helpful staff and the cheapest I found in Queenstown.
Location wise this is in an excellent position for a hotel. Right in the centre of town. Close to the lake and Queenstown Gardens, shops, cafes and bars.
Spacious room, beautiful view and quiet. Close to the centre of Queenstown, just a short walk away. Washing machine and dryer. Reverse cycle a/c.
