Welcome to New Zealand’s adrenalin capital! There are a mountain of possibilities for your pleasure including bungee jumping, rafting, jet boating and skydiving. Overlooking the calm waters of Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by peaceful mountains retreats like The Remarkables and Walter Peak, Queenstown is also party town with many cosy bars and cafés.
The best panoramas can be enjoyed when you take the Skyline Gondola up to Bob’s Peak on Ben Lamond. Breathe in the fresh alpine air when you walk or mountain bike the Queenstown Trail to nearby Arrowtown.
It’s not time to relax yet as there is still skiing to be done in the picturesque ski fields of Coronet Peak or The Remarkables and canyoning at Routeburn Canyon. Hang gliding, paragliding and abseiling are all here too!
Bring yourself back to ground level with a picnic lunch while enjoying the pristine wilderness that makes this city so eye-catching. If more intimate surrounds are your domain, then a string of high-class restaurants are available in the city centre.
Booking.com has massive variety of accommodation to choose from in Queenstown including hotels, apartments, lodges and B&Bs.
I recommend to visit Queenstown if you really want to enjoy. If you are coming from Wellington try to come by ferry upto Picton. Then drive to Queenstown with a stay for night in between.(Christchurch) From Christchurch to Queenstown Via Tekapo Lake ( halt for 1 -2 hours. This lake is beautiful. After that what an amazing view upto Queenstown. Try to reach before night.
Walking along the lake's shore is very pretty, with great views of the mountains and hills. We enjoyed watching the para gliders, and the various boats on the lake. The gondola ride up the mountain was good and we enjoyed our lunch in the bar area overlooking the valley. Our helicopter ride over the snow capped mountains was amazing. The local buses were cheap and convenient, we took the bus to Arrowtown and to the airport (much less than a taxi). Prepaid bus cards are available at iSite information centre. Food seemed very expensive at all the restaurants which were quite crowded most of the time. Souvenirs were also expensive and mostly made in China. We chose to buy at local artist and makers galleries/stores. Next time we would chose a hotel/unit closer to the town centre to avoid the steep climb. Would also chose a unit with a kitchenette so we could prepare some meals. You need a car to reach the areas to see the bungy jumping and jet boats.
Queenstown is Absolutely a breath taking place. A must have distination for Overseas/ NZ tourists. Exciting and welcoming. Views of the Remarkables and the Lake is a Wow factor. I dont think you will be disappointed. The shopping is excellent. The cafes, bars and resturants are clean and the service is exceptional and friendly.
Incredible views! Easily the most scenic place in which I have stayed. Though a little spoiled by rapacious commercialism, and at times, tacky boosterism. Ski fields are modest in size, and a little chaotic.
Lovely town. Enjoyed it very much. Will be returning. Beautiful scenery. Unfortunately we had a bad experience with the taxi service. As there were no ubers available we used a taxi. for a distance of just under 2kms the meter showed $32. We later found out that the fare should have been approx NZ10 to NZ12 Apparently you should look out for a taxi with a " blue light" Discuss with the driver what the fare will be. Don,t jump in the first cab at the rank.
lOVE Queenstown. Beautiful, so much to do, great cafes and restaurants, wonderful waterfront walks, possibly too busy!!!! Close to the most amazing walks and drives if you do not mind a 1-2 hour drive to access places, especially Glenorchy. Markets, singers, entertainers even at night.Steamships, shark rides, speed boats, dinosaur shows, gondola, skiing if in season-buses accessible for this as well!
Level 6 balcony. (Fire place for colder days) Social rooms looked good and had potential if wanted to stay in with groups. Staff friendly. Vending machines (free tea, coffee, choc milk); plus paid snacks was convenient. Sanitizer etc Ghd straighteners and hairdryer. Central location, 6 minute walk to Fergs. Less expensive than larger hotels (but compact room). Close enough to restaurants and bars that didn't matter that no restaurants in-house.
Queenstown
Excellently located, in the centre of Quenstown, The Lofts is within walking distance of many attractions. The apartment we were in - a studio - was great for the few days we were there, although it did not match the photos on Booking.com. All equipment - all we needed - was in excellent condition, with most appearing to be brand new. We appreciated the balcony and the views of the Remarkables. Indeed the apratrment was remarkable.
The bed is comfortable and the room is facing a beautiful mountain. The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. The price of the buffet breakfast seems reasonable due to the A La Carte price in the city centre restaurants are at about the same asking price. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel to allow easy connection to the airport for around $5 per person (pay by cash).
The room was clean. The bed was very comfortable. It was out of Queenstown centre, perfect for us who like peaceful place. Lake view. The rate included buffet breakfast. Breakfast was super. The dining room had nice lake view. The staff was super friendly and helpful to accommodate our needs. Definitely we will stay in this hotel again next time we are in Queenstown.
Queenstown
Hosts were great! Easy to communicate with for their beautiful home. The location was amazing, we could see the sunrise in the morning over the mountains. Being able to wake up to that view during our stay was the real steal- IG worthy pics for a cheaper price than most motels/hotels. Facilities were super convenient. The heated bathroom floors were a game changer!
The location is reasonably close to Queenstown central but need to pass through a steep slope (so need to be careful for elderly and physically handicapped). The hotel is also within easy reach to Queenstown Hill & Time walk. The bed are comfortable and room air-conditioning is great and reactive (motion sensor). Staff are friendly and helpful.
The Rees is the best place to stay in Queenstown. For those without a hire car, the complimentary shuttle service every hour was outstanding and made such a huge difference to our stay. The views are incredible and the location of the hotel (just out of town) was perfect to escape the bustle of the city centre. Will definitely stay again!
Amazing experience! My partner and I love Queenstown. We traveled from Dunedin for a secret elopement. Everything was great. Beautiful place to stay and just a short walk to the Queenstown centre. When we checked out the lovely woman behind the desk congratulated us and gifted us a bottle of bubbles. We will be back :)
Queenstown
The location of the hotel was incredibly handy for our stay in Queenstown, it was only a couple of minutes from the town centre and water front. Good facilities such as mini kitchen and ensuite for both rooms. We were able to easily socialise with our friends in the next room.
The room had very good views of the lake, it had a balcony. They have restaurant right in the hotel. The location was very close to the town centre, walking distance. The reception was beautiful. It was expensive but we did go close to new year so probably that justifies.
Queenstown
The location is really good for walking to the centre of Queenstown You can go out anytime for shopping, eating, walking, or drinking lol. The room is really clean, just for the sound insulation a little poor. And behind my bathroom's window, there is a bin......
Great hotel, decent location - only about 15-20 minutes drive from central Queenstown. Good food options nearby, and incredible views of the Remarkables. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, food and buffet breakfast was wonderful, and staff were all friendly.
Not in the centre of Queenstown but only a picturesque (along the Frankton track)15min walk away. Large 2 bedroom apartment was perfect for our family of 4. Convenient shuttle in/out of town if needed. Fantastic house keeping each day.
Queenstown
The apartment is about 20mins walking distance to Queenstown Central via the botanical gardens. The apartment had all the house necessities with amazing views of the lake from the bedrooms. Internet was high speed which was helpful.
Queenstown
Excellent stay at Chalet Queenstown! Location is in the quieter part of Queenstown and a short walk from the centre. Hosts were wonderful and the hot breakfast each morning was delicious! Beautiful lake views from the room.
Kelvin Heights, Queenstown
Beautiful view, great food. Staff were lovely and helpful. Overall great place to stay, would happily stay there again! Was very handy having the water taxi direct from hotel to Queenstown city centre
love the view of the mountain and lake from the bed. very good breakfast with good variety of food. Hotel in great location at centre of town. valet parking.
Queenstown
Cheapest bed in an over priced resort town. Guess queenstown isn't good for the budget traveller as this is very low level acommodation.
Queenstown
Great location, only a 5 minute walk to Queenstown centre
