Located at the Plaza de Armas, across from the city’s historical Cathedral, Katari Hotel at Plaza de Armas offers accommodations with free WiFi access in Arequipa. We have truly enjoyed our stay at the Katari Hotel. I have stayed in Arequipa for more than 2 weeks in various places, and unless you want to stay 45 min walking distance outside the city (near the Mirador Carmen Alto) THIS HOTEL HAS the most beautiful view of Arequipa. The restaurant / Breakfast place is at the rooftop, showing the volcano Misti and the mountains and the Plaza de Armas. The happy hour is a real bargain (and very well dosed in alcohol) with a lovely local band playing in the background. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and more than we could ever asked for. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean (a bit warm inside at times but they have installed fans if necessary). We really could see that the staff was very thoughtful and took very good care of their guest because my father fell extremely ill on the day of our departure and Maribel, the receptionist, helped me call an ambulance, made sure we were covered with our insurance and accompanied us to the hospital, stayed with us for 4 hours to make sure we were okay or for some translation and also to help us cancel all our flights, until we had to be transferred somewhere else for an immediate operation. The whole staff at the Katari Hotel helped me go through this long week and kept checking out on me and about my father to made sure we were both doing okay. Truly the most careful staff I have ever encountered during my long term travels all those years. I will definitely be back without a doubt and I couldn't remember this place more.

Sonesta Hotel Arequipa features a fitness center and bar. This 5-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. The staff! warm and knowledgeable. Polite. Caring, Special thanks to Milagros and Gloria. The property itself is impressive, stone and glass and typical details, tastefully displayed. The bathroom is a delight; spacious, luminous, well equipped. The bedroom is beautiful with everything we needed and no more. The dining room on the fifth floor with a nice terrace overlooking the volcanoes is also comfortable and enjoyable- it has some explanations about the volcanoes that are brief, to the point and useful. So, great infrastructure but even better that that; the people!

Amazing place, the hotel is a colonial style building and our room was more than we could ever expect! It was suite-like with a high arched ceiling, really beautiful. The employees were really attentive, they brought us a 20 liter carton of water for free, so we didn't have to worry about drinkable water. WI-FI was excellent, had a video call with no problem at all. Breakfast was excellent, with eggs made the way you wanted. Location was also great, right in the heart of the city. Definitely exceeded our expectations, great value for money, if I ever returned to Arequipa I would definitely stay there again.

Large and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the front lawn. There are multiple light switches so I could turn on the light by the desk and have the exact type of illumination I needed to do a bit of work in the evenings. The bathroom was spotless, the water pressure and temperatures were fantastic. But the best thing, by far, was the staff. From the lady who helped me over the phone before my arrival to the person at the desk on check-out, they made my stay simply fantastic.

Endless blue sky and so many opportunities to walk around. Many things to see but also great for just hanging around and doing nothing apart from eating the great food. Dive into the history and enjoy a free guided tour!
A beautiful city with the most amazing sunshine - a fantastic getaway from Lima in the winter months. Staying in the Plaza de Armas means that most of the significant sights/attractions/restaurants are within walkig distance (although a taxi to Carmen Alto for views of the mountains is highly recommended). Altitude isn't too bad but certainly noticeable if you're a sea-level dweller. There is also ample opportunity to get out of the city for a horseback tour of the countryside (Cabalgatas Arequipa in Paucarpata put on an excellent service for me). There are also three excellent craft beer taprooms - Chelawasi, Melkim and my favourite Nowhere if you want to sample some exquisite beers.
This is a very beautiful city to just wander around, the main square is gorgeous and lunch at the restaurants on the terrace overlooking it are a must. I spent a morning wandering around Santa Catalina monastery, such a pretty and peaceful place. Go early to avoid the crowds and get it mostly to yourself. There is a good little coffee shop in there that sell delicious cake!
We came to Arequipa as a stopover for the Colca Canyon, but we were plesantly suprised by the Historical centre, which is absolutely fantastic. Lots to see (including a history museum where they keep Juanita, a well preserved Inca girl mummy), a large, typical local Peruvian market with food, fruits and lots of alpaca/lama stuff, some upscale shops with superb (but expensive) baby alpaca clothing and accessories, ATMs and restaurants everywhere. Not to mention the Plaza del Armas, with its imposing, shining cathedral. From the streets you can see the snowy volcanoes peaks on a nice day. Make sure to try the street-available clove&cinnamon icecream, delicious stuff. Outside this area, the city is mostly favela-like, with unfinished houses, poorly maintained streets and heavy traffic - we only went through it on our way to the airport.
Arequipa is a very special city. The people are so friendly.Even when traders try to sell you something and you decline, they wish you a nice day and a pleasant trip. Some travelers may have a problem with Arequipa's altitude, but you normally climatise after a short period
Such a lovely town! Arequipa felt like a breath of fresh air coming from places like La Paz, Puno, and Cusco (which all has their own charm of course). It is a mix of architecture, history (pre and post Incan), crafts, quaintness, majesty - with the three volcanoes surrounding the town in the distance with an amazing culinary scene I would have loved to spend a week enjoying. The food ranges from next level fusion to the wholly authentic. Great place to spend walking around all day admiring the old buildings, and duck into a museum or cathedral or church or monastery. I would definitely visit again when I have more time to take advantage of one of the day hikes or to the colca mountains excursion during the dryer season.
Best hotel that I have ever stayed and the top notch service! Upon arrival and during the stay, Deborah was super helpful and sweet. They have an amazing breakfast and it's such a lovely place. It is not right by the main square but we liked it better as the place was quiet. Beautiful view as well, there's no need to go to any other rooftop bar. We want to go back to Arequipa just to stay here again, that's how much we loved it!
Arequipa
All people working in this hostel are amazing, best staff we met in more than 1 and half month in Peru. Everybody is super kind and helpful, especially Mafe, thanks for everything :) Location is also very good, right in the centre. Its a bit noisy but it stops at 10pm. There is also a small bonus, little dog Maya that keeps cheering you up whenever you need it. Would definitely come back if I return to Arequipa.
We arrived early in the morning, way before the official check-in and they provided us a room immediately so we got to rest after a long bus ride. Staff were really kind and at breakfast they always prepared something extra for us to try. The room was a bit small, but spotlessly clean and warm. But the highlight of the hotel has to be it's amazing terrace with the views of Arequipa and the volcanos.
Location very nice -walking distance from downtown. Relaxed surroundings with a very attending french peruvian couple, always there for you. I can recommend to stay in Elisa when you want a upper scale hotel in Arequipa, that include the possibilities for Business and Leisure in one compo. Very charming place:)
Arequipa
Good breakfast. Super helpful in making sure you get the best deals for whatever activities you want to do in Arequipa. walking distance from main square and a good vibe at the hostel. Not party but still social. there are plenty of outdoor hangout areas including a mini gym. loved it.
Arequipa
We arrived really early in the morning and Jose let us check in to a smaller available room to have a sleep and refresh until our family room was free. The hotel is just a few blocks down from the main square and was perfect for us for the one day we were in Arequipa.
We were lucky the room was available for check-in at 6 am when our bus arrived in Arequipa. The hotel is located just next to the central market - one can find delicious vegetables and fruit over there. Hot water is available 24/7.
Beautiful boutique hotel in a fantastic location. Just a short walk from the main square. Rooftop Terrace had lovely views and the food and bar were great and very reasonable. The staff were also lovely. Would highly recommend.
Arequipa
We liked everything. The staff was so nice and friendly. This is best hotel for this price and we enjoyed our stay. We could leave our bags after check out Great location! It is very near to the center!
Best breakfast during our Peru Trip Beautiful inner courtyard, nicely decorated Nice location central to the city (5-10 min to plaza de armas) Comfortable beds
The rooms were unique, the hotel was very pretty, and the rooftop bar / breakfast area was amazing. And the breakfast was soo good! Fresh juice every morning.
One of the best hotels I have stayed in Arequipa - good location, great service. Clean, staff made sure you enjoyed your stay. Would definitely stay again.
Really happy with the hotel, the receptionists have a good level of English. That gorgeus pool is too cold to use in the Peruvian winter thought.
We had a very clean and comfortable room in the best possible location in Arequipa. The hotel crew was also very helpful and friendly.
Very comfortable hotel in Arequipa. Super clean and very comfortable bed. Also bathtub is a + at the end of a long day.
I loved the hotel decoration and view from the rooftop.
great location, hotel is very beautiful.
Arequipa
I loved the garden with many small hang out areas, and the interior in my room. It felt stylish, clean and luxurious but yet like home. The shared kitchen was clean and nice. The absolutely best thing was the yoga deck with props where I spent a few hours each afternoon, the biggest reason why I booked this place. Staff was also nice and helpful!
Everything about this hotel was good. I can’t find something wrong! Everything was excellent!!!
