Located in Caraz, IntiRumi Inn features a restaurant, bar, garden, and free WiFi. Featuring room service, this property also provides guests with a terrace. Our stay at IntiRumi was really great, we would have stayed more if possible. The room was large, comfy and well decorated, the bathroom modern, and the view from the balcony amazing. Loved the place, the people and the project. Having the best restaurant in town in the hotel, with original breakfasts and dinners prepared with local ingredients (meaning a mix of own produce from the Inn's garden and from the surrounding communities) was another huge plus! Also, we were lucky enough to be there in some "quiet days" and could enjoy the "family feeling" and excellent advice offered by the Inn's staff. Will definitely stay here for our next treks in the area!

Caraz
Offering river views, Casa Pukayaku Lodge in Caraz has accommodations, a shared lounge, a garden and a terrace. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. I loved everything about this place. It’s situated just outside Caraz, easy accesible by walk or moto-taxi. The property is amazing, several small houses in a beautiful garden, with the river passing by just outside. The rooms are spacious, with hot shower, a little veranda with a hammock as well. Everything is also very neat and nicely decorated. Jorge and Bellisa are the most welcoming hosts you can imagine. I had such nice and interesting conversations with them, and felt extremely well taken care of. You can tell they enjoy meeting people, and they both have a warm and welcoming energy. Bellisa prepared awesome breakfast, and for early hikes you can have take-away breakie. She also cook meals for you upon request which is nice if you need a calm evening. Jorge makes his own beer which is delicious. I spent three nights here and could easily have stayed longer. It’s a perfect location for hiking, and I highly recommend to have a day to just relax in this beautiful place. Thank you Jorge and Bellisa for taking so good care of me, I hope I will come back to your little oasis one day.
Caraz
Located in Caraz, 9 miles from Yungay, Yoly's House has a terrace and free WiFi. Some accommodations include a patio and a cable TV, as well as seating area. Yoly and Willie went out of their way to help us enjoy our stay. We came to do day hikes in the area, and received lots of helpful information. They had family visit during our stay, and even invited us to join them on an excursion. We declined this, but took advantage of their local knowledge and contacts to book transportation to trailheads. We could do laundry in their laundry room. The bed was comfortable. There was a nice patio next to our room, where we spent lots of time. Caraz is much quieter, and felt safe, compared to the tourist hub of Huaraz. We ended up staying an extra night. Highly recommended!
Hotel in Yungay
Alpamayo Casa Hotel - Restaurante has a restaurant, fitness center, a bar and shared lounge in Yungay. Featuring room service, this property also provides guests with a grill. Very nice hotel and restaurant. Bed was comfy. Shower is great! Very spacious room. Staff is really great. Nice breakfast. We tried their own beer and it’s really good so you should definitely try it when you go there. Best option when you go to explore the cordillera Blanca. Don’t stay in Huaraz. Stay in Yungay. Way closer and you gonna save a lot of time. The food in the restaurant was really good as well.
Yungay (Near Caraz)
Featuring a restaurant, Llanganuco Mountain Lodge offers accommodations in Yungay. Rooms at Llanganuco Mountain Lodge are spacious and cozy. Each features a private bathroom and mountain views. Everything. Hammocks with a view of multiple glaciers and huge peaks, the most amazing dogs in the world, access to a lot of different hikes, making friends at dinner to hike with, incredible three course dinners (vegetarian for us, including baked pears in red wine sauce, the most amazing Greek salad, pasta, amongst many other dishes), friendly and lovely staff (we didn’t get to meet Charlie, but Zosimon and the other staff were so kind!), fireplace in our room that they put on for us each night, the unreal view from the balcony, the quiet around us, the 5* quality bathrooms and showers. It’s unbelievable, you will not regret your decision to stay at Llanganuco lodge. I’m glad we chose to stay three nights, but could have stayed longer. Charlie was great at communicating beforehand with information on the area. Only a few tips: WiFi is slow so if you have things to book or any research to do, do it beforehand! If you’re on a budget, account for the cost of food at the lodge also.

IntiRumi Inn, Los Alamos, and HOTEL DULZURA are some of the popular hotels in Caraz.
It’s a wonderful town very close to the lakes and famous mountains of the area, people are nice and if you fight a bit for lower prices is quite cheap (because in Perú you learn too late that if you’re a tourist everyone tries to charge you more for everything) besides that small detail which is something that happens in the whole country and not only in Caraz it was a wonderful place to visit. I highly recommend the Parón lagoon (you can walk right next to that one and after an hour or so you get to another lagoon with the paramount pictures mountain) and the 69 lagoon, is hard to get there but it’s worth the pain.
Caraz is much quieter than Huaraz and recommended if you want that smalltown feel. Los Pinos lodge had great gardens and there are other places which seem to have more space than equivalent accommodation in Huaraz. However, it is slightly harder to organise tours and activities from Caraz so check in advance with whoever you're organising stuff with.
Caraz is a relaxed small town. The square is nice, the streets are easy to navigate, and the market is great. You can walk everywhere or take a cheap mototaxi. Its a bit lower than Huaraz,, so its a nice option if coming from sea level and you are looking to acclimatize. Its a good jumping off spot for Paron and some of the other popular treks.
It’s easy to get around in Caraz and there are some good eateries. I was only there one night, but had a well prepared (and well-sized) Lomo Saltado at the restaurant Entre Panes. Where also the locals go. The following day for lunch I went to El Cruce which is just 5-10 minutes out for the best cuy I’ve had in Peru so far. It’s VERY local place and the only serve 1-3 things a day. Besides that I can really recommend going to Laguna Parón. Such a beautiful spot.
