The host was extremely accommodating as I was cycling and arrived much later than I planned. The property is a lovely old building with good sized room Thomas I left early I didn’t see much of it.

We selected this hotel primarily for the thermal bath, but it showed to be an excellent, quiet stay with a large room, comfy beds, spcious bathroom, very good breakfast and dinner, and nice personnel ! We will definitely come back to experience this once more.

It is in Mêda, on of the most beautiful areas of Portugal, with fields of wines, olives and almond trees. It is a simple, affordable, hotel, not fancy, but has large rooms, with proper duvets that are warm enough in the cold nights, a good breakfast with bread-rolls ham, cheese, and good coffee. The place is clean, staff are friendly and it is located close to a few local restaurants and a pizzeria. In the summer you can swim in the public, outdoor swimming pool, which is located a short stroll from the hotel. The wine in the area is excellent. You can go on walks in the beautiful area or drive to one of the nearby villages. Remember to bring your camera or sketching book!

We took a rest day In Trancoso after 10 days of walking on the GR22. Vale a Pena was a perfect choice - comfortable, friendly and good location beside the historic centre.

Great new houses in a stylish ensemble in a really nice little village. Excellent beds, everything you need is present. Owners are very friendly and helpful.
