Staying at Solar de Vila Meã was a beautiful experience from start to finish. The first thing that struck me was the setting — it’s absolutely stunning. Surrounded by vineyards and peaceful countryside, the entire property feels like a hidden retreat. Every view, whether from the room, the pool, or the garden, looked like a painting. There’s a real sense of calm and space here that’s hard to describe but easy to fall in love with. The restaurant, Barro, completely exceeded expectations. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely proud of what they serve, which made the whole experience even more special. If you’re looking for a place that combines natural beauty with exceptional food and a sense of quiet luxury, I couldn’t recommend Solar de Vila Meã more highly.

Barcelos was lovely! Hotel was in a great location and food in the restaurant was really good! Biking from Barcelos to Esposende was doable and cycling paths in Barcelos were good.

A Very nice small city, lots to see and many good dining and shopping opportunities. We were lucky to be there during a festival, which provided non-stop entertainment for our two -day stay. Our favorite place in Portugal so far. (We are not big city people, found Lisboa and Porto vexing - crowds, noise, traffic). Barcelos manages to be interesting and charming without the negatives. Of course, some day it will over-populate and be as obnoxious as the other big cities.

Barcelos is one of many stunning towns and cities in Portugal, but by far my favorite. It is small enough to walk around, has some excellent old buildings, bridges, etc. Cafes, restaurants all provide excellent service, and the market on Thursdays is awesome to see.

This town is a car crash! - despite Unesco city of creativity. 1-2 hours plenty to look around the last remaining intact bits of town, apart from visiting on a Thursday when supposedly there is a market going on. So many other places to see in the area! Why waste your time?

We were there for Dance World Cup finals in Braga so didn't see a lot of Barcelos but surrounding areas very beautiful. Lots of stunning countryside covered in vineyards. Definitely would go back to explore more!

The city is beautiful and with a lot of monuments and churches to visit. It also had some pretty interesting shops in a central shopping area and some interesting looking restaurants. From traditional to hipster food- you can find everything there. The day I visited, the city had a huge market in the center, street food and entertainment. There were some traditional music concerts, traditional dancing, flower and light decorations all over... Very pretty. I was positively surprised by the mixture of historical and city-like vibes.

I really enjoyed my 5-night stay at Lux'Otel in Barcelos. The hotel was clean, modern, and very comfortable. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The location was convenient for exploring the city, and the overall atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. The room was well-maintained, and everything I needed for a pleasant stay was provided. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Barcelos

Raquel was in reception and was courteous and professional, despite my being upset. She kindly carried my two rucksacks down the road and up two flights of stairs. Next morning Raquel returned as promised at 07:30 to carry my bags back to Art Hotel so they could be transferred. Without her help, I could not have managed as I’m 74 and have a medical condition that if I fall, my bones break.

Very nice, tidy, simple hotel. Great deal with breakfast. The humidity was quite noticeable — even with the air conditioner, our clothes didn’t really dry. Located right on the Camino de Santiago path.
