CanadaWe enjoyed Vitor's beautiful heritage home, the animals, and the natural surroundings. It is a very peaceful place. Vitor is an incredible host. He is generous, helpful, and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the history of the area and many other very interesting things, It was so nice to wake up to roosters, chickens, two geese,, cats and a pup and Vitor bustling around creating and serving a delicious breakfast.for his guests. I highly recommend this stay. We hope to stay here again.

The beach is stunning - powerful surf with non-stop rolling...
The beach is stunning - powerful surf with non-stop rolling waves. Lovely sandy beach with shade and sunbeds available and amazing beach bars at the back with views of the beach, the estuary and the cliffs.
The town is set back 3-4km from the sea, the Fishermen's Trail officially goes back and forth along less picturesque paths either side of the river.
Alternatively, WHEN the tide is right you can ford the river crossing over directly to teh beach and either go back into town on the South side or proceed along the path.

Odeceixe Village is gorgeous with its cute narrow streets...
Odeceixe Village is gorgeous with its cute narrow streets and its lovely little houses, very well kept and typical from the Algarve.
Odeceixe beach forms part of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park and is considered one of the 7 wonders of Portugal.
Parking can be quite a challenge and you have to go down a long hill to access the beach, so in the peak of Summer, you´re better of going early in the morning. If you want to avoid this issue, there´s a small touristic little train that goes from the Guest House into the beach. The water is excellent and not as cold as we had expected.
Odeceixe Beach functions simultaneously as both a sea beach and a river beach, due to the mouth of the Ribeira de Seixe. When you go down the steps, it has a sort of central area where the stream is on the right-hand side and the sea is on the left. In the background, you can see the Ribeira flowing into the sea, and on the hillside, there is lush green vegetation with trees at the top. The mixture of the stream and the tides create shallow pools of warm water, ideal for children to play safely, as the sea is very rough. At low tide, there is a very extensive stretch of sand. At high tide, the sandy area is reduced to the sandy peninsula in the centre.

A quiet and pretty small village that remains authentic.
A quiet and pretty small village that remains authentic. A great place for a short visit if you like to avoid the crowds or to look for accomodation if you plan to explore the gorgeous 'vicentina' coast, with car access to many great beaches. Most of these beaches are likely to be too 'wild' for most people, with difficult access, but they are perfect for the more adventurers and, again, for those who prefer to avoid the crowds. Plus, there are a few places in the village centre where you can enjoy a really tasteful light meal, of which I'd definitely reccommend the restaurants 'Ao Largo' and 'Casa Verde'.

A lovely, picturesque town with amazing beach - finally one with no people. Completely different to Faro or Carvoeiro. Helpful people, great restaurants just right for the place. We highly recommend Taberna do Gabao.

The beach of Odeceixe sits a few km from Odeceixe, on the beach itself the variety and possibilities are limited, only a couple of restaurants, no real cafés, no shop to buy newspaper or any market available.
The beach itself is gorgeous and the cliff views are amazing, you even have the choice between a river or ocean beach next to each other.

Main beach lovely, Praia de Adega not very accesible, great views around but village somewhat rundown and totally dead at this time of year. Nowhere to go to eat except pastelaria for lunch time snack. Moving around Odeceixe is not easy. If I were to go again it woud definitely not be at Christmas/New Year.

Fantastic location, overlooking iconic Odeceixe beach and bang on the Fisherman’s Trail. Excellent dinner and remarkably good free breakfast. Good value for money.
