The 4-star Aqua Natura Madeira has elegant rooms with Atlantic Ocean views in the fishing village of Porto Moniz, 28 miles north of the center of Funchal. It offers a sauna on site. Staff was amazing. Christina at front desk was super cute and amazing. Paulo in dinning and his kitchen staff were second to none. Went out of there way to provide incredible food and outstanding service. Give them all a raise. PRICELESS !!!!!!
This seafront boutique hotel in Madeira features an indoor swimming pool, a Turkish bath and a hot tub. Each room features panoramic Atlantic Ocean views from the balcony. Great hotel that knows how to take care of their customers. I was there in mid-October and weather was cool, but still allowed swimming in the natural swimming pool complex 5 minutes away (the reason I stayed here!). Lovely rooms, with great bed, excellent bathrooms, and stunning views of the ocean and soaring mountain coastline from the balcony. Breakfast buffet (included in my package) was outstanding, with just about anything you could possibly want. Friendly helpful staff throughout the hotel: At the front desk, in the bar and the restaurant, and in housekeeping. Excellent value, and a great base for exploring the NW part of the island (and for visiting the natural swimming pools - one of the coolest things you'll ever have a chance to do...)

Featuring a garden, barbecue facilities, and a terrace, Refúgio do Ilhéu has accommodations in Porto Moniz with free WiFi and city views. The owner was prompt and open to any questions. she trusted us with the accommodation keys to be left in a safety box once leaving. Organized a taxi ride to the airport. The apartment is excellent. The views amazing. The apartment is huge.. I would defiantly book this place for my son and daughter in-law 2grand kids under the age of 4yrs age.

Located in Porto Moniz in the Madeira region, Casa da Grota has a balcony. Featuring sea and mountain views, this vacation home also comes with free WiFi. Very nice house, beautifly decorated. Very big, modern and comfortable. It was a little bit cold inside (it was not a big problem, because there are few electric heaters in the house). The house is so nice with everything what you can need, big TV with satelite programs, huge kitchen (with all dishwasher, microwave, fridge, oven…) washing machine... Very nice outdoor (terase) place. Two bedrooms with two small double beds (a little bit too hard mattress). very nice open concept living room. Good wi-fi. We really liked this house. Thanks Silvia.

We stayed two nights ( one and one half days). This was a great decision, because the first day, the pools were closed due to high waves. The full day, we were able to swim. It was nice to have a room with a safe to lock up belongings while swimming. We saw the aquarium and science museum. The restaurants and the breakfast were great. We were able to walk around the area. There is a supermarket very close and an atm by the pools.
Porto Moniz is packed with natural wonders but the natural swimming pools is the reason we visited it. It is just incredible to be able to swim in a natural sea pool right in the ocean. No words to describe the feeling but AWESOME!
If you like the mountains, churned up turquoise and cobalt seas, rocky headlands and salt water this is the place. The collection of "natural" swimming pools looked hokie --until i got in, then realized I would not have been able to get wet if were they not there. The sea was ferocious - 5 - 7M swells!
The pools are the draw but this was a good base for exploring the west of Madeira and for walking in the hills. After the day trippers have gone it was very quiet and peaceful. We saw lots of shooting stars!
North part of Madeira is always windy and more clouding, but still if you like sound of ocean and salty air then Porto Moniz is your place. It easy to get there, there is no steep roads. There are couple of fish/meat restaurants and snack-bar. Place itself is quite quiet, not much to do.
Lovely village in Madera, far away from busy capital Funchal (with its big hotel complexes and cruisers). A car is a must to explore the island. If there is enough time, driving along west cost to the south is more interesting than the fast road through the tunnels. All restaurants by the coast offer excellent seafood, but prices vary, just walk from one to another and chose your best option. The same for souvenir shops.

The room was very nice with great view to the ocean and the rocks. I believe that this is the best location hotel in Porto Moniz. The restaurant is great, we recommend to have dinner in the hotel as well instead of looking for outside restaurants. For about the same price you get great food and clean and nice location. The Jacuzzi was out of order, so they have advised us before we arrive if we can accept it and once we agreed, they were kind to upgrade our room. The stuff was very kind and helpful

The overall hotel has a great location. The staff was very friendly especially the dining staff. Limited menu but what we had was delicious for dinners. Breakfast was on the lean side not what I would have chosen. The rooms are outdated but they are clean. The bed was too hard for our taste but we experienced this across Europe. The real draw back for me is that the hallways smell like mold. Please do not take this wrong we truly enjoyed our time at this hotel and town.

Beautiful ocean view, quiet surroundings, terrace and large windows, home furnishings, welcome bag (two wines, cheese, bread etc.), great contact with the owner. Good starting point for trips around the island (one hour drive to the more distant points of interests). Nice levada five minutes from the house. In a snapshot: a great place to stay in Madeira.

A great stay in Porto Moniz in this apartment! We were lucky to have a view of the tiny fishing port, the sea and cliffs all for ourselves from our balcony. We also enjoyed the small bar frequented by locals underneath our apartment where we had a dinner once. Thank you so much, Judy, it was a really great stay!

Nice, clean and cozy apartment, 5 mins driving to Porto Muniz downtown and natural pools. Ana Maria is super nice, she gave us a typical Madeira cake for breakfast.
