Formerly a convent, this hotel near the historical village of Vila Viçosa is set in lush, landscaped gardens. It has an outdoor swimming pool, a spacious terrace and a restaurant. The breakfast was outstanding and vibe around the pool was very nice. Dinner was also excellent - we had planned to eat a different restaurant on our second night, but we decided to eat at the hotel again because it was so delicious. The staff were also very nice and helpful!
Featuring indoor and outdoor swimming pools, Alentejo Marmoris Hotel & SPA is located in Vila Viçosa, known for its marble. The hotel’s Stone Spa by Bruno Vassari provides relaxing treatments. Seriously this hotel is amazing in every level, the staff is amazing and kind, the hotel is beautiful rooms are very luxurious and full of style and the best part is the restaurant where chef Pedro is making unbelievable Michelin starred food.
Located in the historic town of Vila Vicosa and 984 feet from Paco Ducal, Hotel Solar Dos Mascarenhas includes a 16th-century building, stables and mature gardens. The building is beautiful as was our suite. The range & quality of the breakfast was also highly appreciated. Everything was perfect!
Located in a former aristocratic manor from the 16th Century, Casa do Colégio Velho offers panoramic views of landscaped grounds and Vila Viçosa’s historic quarter. Facilities include an outdoor pool.... Dona Manuela, the owner, is a gracious lady who does everything to make guests feel welcome. This I’ll remain one of the nicest stays among many travel experiences.
Herdade Ribeira de Borba is a working farm, offering rural tourism in a traditional countryside retreat. You can enjoy Montado’s beautiful scenery from the spacious terrace and 2 outdoor pools. Guest enjoy the silence and respect the others. Great bed and facilities. Very COVID friendly specially in the pool
Located 5 mi from Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa, Monte da Freira provides accommodations with a shared lounge, a terrace and a shared kitchen for your convenience. Beautiful and peaceful place. Adelino and Isabel are the best host we ever met. Breakfest was delicious. We totally recomend If you want to rest and charge your batteries
Nice little Alentejo town. Very beautiful to walk around with several historic locations for sight seeing. Paço Ducal and the Castle are the best Plenty of quality offers to eat, like Craft BBS Several other places of interest close by, all of which you can visit with the kids
A quiet city, this is definitely low season yet there were a few visitors in the venues we visited. The ducal palace is worth a visit, the castle is very well kept. We found a nice little restaurant, Ouro Branco, which served great typical local food at reasonable prices.
Peaceful place, free concernts, cultural options, Castello and grounds are stunning, Ducal Palacio is worth a visit, need to check times of the english or french or Portuguese tours. Cloche or carraige museum was not open the day we visited despiite it being included on the ticket. Marble museum, Igreja Bartholomew, worth seeing also.
Explore this historical town for some days. You'll not be disappointed. Great food, very welcoming people and a true journey into portuguese history. The surrounding landscape is unique beautiful.
Vey pleasant country town with friendly people. Well placed to visit the wine region. Surprised they required 5 people minimum before they'd run a trip round the Ducal Palace guided in English and would only do that during mon - Fri.
The city is a bit out of the tourist circuit, but it's really worth visiting! From the Ducal Palace to the Castle and the many churches and museums, Vila Viçosa has plenty to keep the tourist busy for a few days. And its location is great as a base from which to visit other cities in Alentejo, like Évora and Elvas, or even Badajoz and Merida in Spain, just across the nearby border.
The building - a former nunnery - is very impressive, with marble staircases, atmospheric cloisters, frescoes on the walls and old furniture and decorative objects everywhere. It was like staying in a museum! The breakfast room is lovely and the selection of food was good, with homemade yoghurt and fresh rolls and pastries. The location, right in the centre of Vila Vicosa and next to the palace, is good for exploring and for local restaurants.
Perfect, absolutely calm house near very small city. Shower cabin was the best I have ever experienced in hotels and apartments. Convenient bed. Tasty breakfast. Maria was very helpful and even sent her spouse to meet us and help with driving to the place. Very kind, local specie touching dog adds some sense of home.
Great location (in the centre of Vila Viçosa, right next to Palácio Ducal), comfy bedroom, tasty and plentiful breakfast with lots of homemade and locally produced products, pet friendly, amazing space for relaxing and plenty of activities for families. Wish we could have spent more days there!
Loved the house, the garden, the charming owner, great position in the beautiful town of Vila Viçosa. The property was delightful and impeccably maintained, full of beautiful things.
Staff always very helpful and professional. Hotel condition in general.
Guest enjoy the silence and respect the others. Great bed and facilities. Very COVID friendly specially in the pool
