It has two centers.
It has two centers. The old Center is a bit run down but has a lot of history the new center around a Villa Morra mora is more up to date and commercial with plenty of restaurants. Nice weather but can be hot in January. Friendly people. Feels very safe to walk around even at night. Uber and Bolt are cheap for getting around.

Climate change is real in Paraguay so summer months can be too hot. Railway museum is interesting. Excellent well-established restaurant, Lido Bar, has a big menu including traditional Paraguayan food with at least two locations; they also have a free charging station for phones with individual lock boxes.

The heart of South America with very friendly people, delicious traditional food like sopa Paraguaya (not soup) and chipa are staples of their traditional cuisine!
Overlooked in most cases Asuncion, like the country itself has many hidden gems ready to be discovered. The city of Asuncion is a green garden in part due to its lush vegetation.
Two days here is more than enough to get an overall feel of the city. The international airport is not that far away from the city center either.

Walking distances in city center but mind side walks are irregulars. Siesta time quieter than other hours. Overall 2 full days enough for a basic city trip including shopping in Lomas area.

A sprawling city that’s worth a day to explore. The old centre lacks any world class sights, but there’s enough to keep you interested. A lot of it was run down and being redeveloped and downright sketchy in places.
Best to stay outside the old town in one of the more modern areas that have eateries and bars. Use a hailing taxi service (Bolt or Uber). They are cheap.

I am planning to stay a few months here but after a week I can tell everyone that this city has a lot to offer, a lot of potential and I do recommend Asuncion . There is public transportation but I always used Bolt. that is like Uber, is safe, unexpensive and quick. There are no too many restaurants and cafeterias in the city center where I am staying, and for sure they need more supermarkets. Palm street is very nice specially during the weekend and holydays. All government buildings are in this area. It is a very old city and many buildings needs complete restauration. There is lot of policemen everywhere and they very polite and they help find any place you are looking for.

Our stay in this place was FANTASTIC!! I cannot imagine a place in Asuncion being more peaceful and with a better atmosphere. The hotel is so beautiful and calm. We stayed for 11 nights and did not want to leave.
Swimming pool opened 24/7, lots of greenery and places to rest and relax. Beautiful building, very kind personnel. Especially the waiters were so sweet, although they did not speak a word in English.
When I look at what we got for what we paid, I consider it really cheap.

A really charming hotel in a great neighbourhood of Asuncion. The rooms are huge, the staff are incredibly kind and helpful, and the building itself is really interesting and beautifully decorated, with great facilities. Although on the map it looks a little way from the 'centre' of Asuncion, for anyone who doesn't know the city, it's in an up and coming neighbourhood with nice restaurants and cafes. A great place to stay, and really exceptional value for money.

The host - Ian has been fantastic throughout to ensure I had a comfortable stay. He also helped me when my flight got cancelled and allowed me to stay longer in the flat which was life-saving in Asunción’s heat. There were snacks and free cold water provided and working AC.
