The castle is pleasant and worth a visit.
The castle is pleasant and worth a visit. The Telecabin is weather dependent and expensive so choose your dates, and be wary of queue times. Otherwise the village is run down, with little to do and feels very neglected. Nicer to find a trail and go walking. Glad I went but one day was more than enough - sorry!

We only spent one night in Busteni, in order to visit the Cantacuzino Palace. Our impression was that the resort is not very well managed -- some roads were under construction with very little signage or access instructions, a lot of restaurants appeared on the map but were in reality closed for good (not just for the season). In fact, we weren't able to find one with a terrace, to have lunch, and driving around is not an option -- the main street is always packed with cars back to back. We managed to visit the Cantacuzino Palace, but only because we got there before they opened -- it seems part of the Netflix series Wednesday was shot there, and now the palace has accrued the Netflix kind of fame. There were several huge busses filled with Ukrainian visitors at the gate. When we got out, after the visit, the queue was at least a hundred people long (and that's without counting the organized groups, they had separate access).

Bușteni really is a gem in the Prahova Valley.
Bușteni really is a gem in the Prahova Valley. Its relatively flat layout compared to nearby towns like Sinaia or Azuga does make it more walkable, especially for longer strolls without steep climbs. Being right at the foot of the Caraiman Peak with the Bucegi Mountains towering around gives it that dramatic, postcard-perfect backdrop. It's no wonder the town has become a favourite for both hikers and casual visitors alike.
If you're up for it, the hike or cable car up to the Heroes’ Cross on Caraiman is well worth the effort—stunning views from up there.

If you're visiting to go see the mountains this is a great place.
If you're looking for a city to walk through and do stuff in, it's almost useless.
You can find good food, sure. But nothing to do in the city, per say. The attraction comes from the amazing mountain routes.

Beautiful Bucegi mountains views everywhere! That's why people come here! But you have to put up with bad traffic, especially weekends! It can be a great hub for quick trips around to Sinaia, Predeal, Brasov and of course Bran Castle! Good food to be had, @ La Etaj, Casa Ancutei, Casa Magical!

It was clean, warm and we had everything we needed, in the kitchen, bathroom and living room. It was comfortable and the view is amazing...close to center of Busteni also.
I liked in the main bedroom the wallpaper and how the lights were made on the ceiling, also in the living room. It was nice that we had books aswell.
The digital fireplace gave the room such a cozy vibe. Really lovley!
The host was very nice also!

We had a pleasant stay at Vila Roxana in Bușteni. The property was easy to find and we could park right in front. Our room was spacious, clean, and had beautiful views of the Bucegi Mountains. The location is excellent, just next to the cable car.
There is a kitchen available for guests, which was well equipped for preparing simple meals. Roxana, the host, was polite and helpful when needed.

An absolute gem in Bușteni! Everything felt so peaceful and cozy, surrounded by mountain charm.
The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the mornings started off with a delicious breakfast. The views from the balcony were simply breathtaking—truly postcard-worthy. To top it all off, we had a wonderful time relaxing in the pool area. A true oasis for a perfect getaway!

The employees were very friendly and trying to help as much as possible. The breakfast was very nice and delicious. The home made jam of the mother of the hotel was very good. The location is very close to the Wednesday Academy. It is a very nice family company.
