JapanThe stay at this hotel is one big part of our memories in Gotland. The receptionist Ida was amazingly thoughtful and helpful. The building itself is a bit old but has an original atmosphere which we liked it so much. It is a great deal of money considering it includes the delicious morning buffet. Visby offers a beautiful blend of ancient history, stunning beaches, and a peaceful small-town atmosphere. The medieval architecture, coastal scenery, and relaxed pace make it a unique destination to explore.
During our stay, we relied entirely on public buses, which worked well for a comfortable and unhurried trip. However, If you want to make the most of Gotland and explore more remote attractions, beaches, viewpoints, and villages at your own pace, renting a car is highly recommended.
For travelers seeking a relaxed and enjoyable experience without the need to see every corner of the island, the bus network is a convenient and budget-friendly option. But for maximum flexibility and coverage, a car is undoubtedly the best choice.

Loved Visby and Gotland.
Loved Visby and Gotland. We stayed for 3 days and rented a car. We travelled to the North, South and East of the island in each of those days. Very relaxing vibe. Visby is a beautiful historic medieval town. One half day is enough there.

If you want experience what’s unique about Visby, wander the town in the early morning before every available spot turns into a a tourist destination. On midsummer evenings the town is crowded and noisy. If that’s not your style, take a walk around the walls, either inside or out, before the businesses open. You’ll be able to see and appreciate the ruins, the historic buildings, and the parks. It will be just you and the alley cats—the four-legged ones.

Visby is full of historical significance, and is totally worth a visit.
Remnants of life from over 1200 years ago makes Visby a living stone age village.
There's plenty of entertainment for teenagers, but less so for adults seeking nice places for conversation.
If you fly in and park at the aero club, you can walk to the village center in 15 minutes. This is rare.

Arrived during medieval week, where the locals from baby's, to teens, to adult and the old, all get dressed in the local "traditional" costumes of an era long gone.
Visby is one of the Hansa towns, so has great history of for the area and has kept its medieval look and feel with narrow streets (v.limited cars thank heavens), cafes by babbling streams, great restaurants with amzing staff who all spoke English - phew!
If you want to kick-off your corporate shoes, jacket and laptop, head to Gotlands capital and use it as a base to see the rest of this amazing Swedish Island.

I loved that the room was filled with basically just a bed. It sometimes bothers me when hotel rooms have too much unnecessary furniture. The location was excellent. We were visiting the Gotland Game Conference, and all the event venues were really close to the hotel, while it was still in a quiet part of the neighborhood (no party noises in the evening). The breakfast was a regular, solid hotel breakfast. The staff was very nice! I also loved the contactless check-in and check-out outside work hours.

Mysig frukostbuffé - man fick värma sina egna pannkakor eller mikra gröt. Barnvänlig med pipmuggar, barnstolar, plastmuggar och gosedjur. Fina rum med unik inredning.
Vi hade turen att få låna hotellets enda AC-enhet för att göra vår värmekänsliga bebis nöjdare, tyvärr innebar det att ha ett öppet fönster och få in ljud från förbipasserande krogbesökare sent på natten. Annars hade fönstren bra ljudisolering.

Generally speaking the hotel was inviting and of a 4 star. The rooftop restaurant/bar is great! The blond curly lady at the reception desk was very helpful. But all the staff were polite. The breakfast was good. The spa a bit old, but useful.
