Viang Yonok Hotel, Restaurant, Sports Club is a 3-star property located in Chiang Saen. Featuring free bikes, the 3-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with a private bathroom. What did we like? The very kind, attentive, joyful and interesting owners (Vanassa and her husband Ian), the well-cared for grounds, the respect for the local environment, the delicious home made bread and jams and fresh fruit for breakfast, the well outfitted rooms that show how much care the hosts take to try and please their guests, the attention to small detail, our room with a view of the beautiful and serene lake in all its natural beauty. Vanassa and Ian took the time to show us their lovely property (hotel grounds but also the adjoining private family areas), and to share the history of its beginnings and their vision of what they wished to create (a little paradise in sync with nature) and why (to share its beauty with others). Ian also interrupted his morning to show us his incredible vintage motorcycle collection (he lovingly rebuilds and restores them..and rides them) and gave us one of his freshly arrived high-end road maps (along with road trip tips) that turned out not only to be a lifesaver but we also ended up doing two of the most beautiful routes in Thailand because of it. Vanassa took care of all of our accommodation needs and we really enjoyed her vivacious conversation and quite funny and warm stories during a breakfast chat. We were only there for one night because of pre-scheduled plans, but still it felt like visiting with old friends! Thank you both for your warm welcome!
Overlooking the Mekong River, Siam Triangle is located 4.3 mi away from The Golden Triangle. It offers a restaurant and an outdoor pool. The hotel is located by Mae Khong River. We booked the river view room which we can see the beautiful sunrise and have a view to Laos in the other side of the river. The staff are very nice and very helpful. We were very impressed.
Located in Chiang Saen, Honey Hotel Chiang Saen features a garden. The property provides a 24-hour front desk, a shared lounge and luggage storage for guests. Quite modern hotel in the outskirts of Chiang Saen, and just a few minutes by foot to the Mekong River. The ruins of an ancient temple lie by the hotel, adding some charm to the place. Across the main road, there's a cafe/restaurant which is really lovely, a nice place to spend some time relaxing. The small hotel next door can provide tuk-tuk service (I guess Honey Hotel can too but I didn't ask). Breakfast is very simple but it's all right for the price of the room.

Contrary to what most guidebooks say about the Golden triangle, the place is not full with tourists anymore. If some attractions are obviously a tourist trap (i.e the Buddha and the boat trip), others are definitely worthy of a visit (the viewpoint on the hill and the Hall of Opium). Indeed this museum was so interesting that it alone deserve that you come here from Chiang Rai.
Well worth seeing. A rich and deep history. Fortunately monuments and ancient wall preserved. Great market day. A lovely promenade along the river. Every night food stalls there. Very close to Golden Triangle. Easy to get to from Chiang Rai by bus under 2 hours. Food stalls have the best food and it's inexpensive. City is walkable.
Laid back little border town with well-preserved ancient city walls. Wonderful views of the Mekong. Small enough to walk. Busy street markets. Fun watching Chinese boats loading and unloading with the crews drinking beer and smoking on the quayside at night. Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Good inexpensive street food. Only 4-5 km from the Golden Triangle and its many tour buses, yet very few tourists go on to Chiang Saen. Enjoy it while it lasts.
This is the right place to stay when you want to enjoy Mekong river and nearness of Laos and Birma borders. The Golden triangle (the meeting point of three borderlines) is just about 10 km on the north. The town itself contain many interesting ruined remains of the medieval temples, the most impressive of which - the Wat Pa Sak - is very worthy to be seen.

Very enjoyable stay. Clean, quiet, comfortable. Most modern hostel for a similar price in Thailand I ever seen by now. Completely new bathroom, excellent shower. There are maps available in a reception, staff is providing information about things to do!!! Bus station is 6 min walk, blue car stop to Golden Triangle around the corner (half way from bus stop to Tata hostel) for 20bath one way. Night market along the river less than 10min walk. Go for it, you will love it!

An extremely attractive well kept hotel lovely manicured gardens, very clean and comfortable room, quiet setting away from main road, very helpful staff and a big plus was there was no charge for doing our laundry, we originally booked only for one night because we liked it so much we stayed for three the rate of THB 600 per night is amazing, one point to be aware of is that you do need your own transport as the lacation is slightly out of town

Good breakfast with good view. The bed is so comfy. The room size is big enough to stay. Shower room is small but it is included with all functions you may need. Warm and good shower with nice shampoo and shower gel and it is separated wet and dry area. The hotel is in quiet area of Chiang Saen so it make your trip relax at night time. The hotel is so simply as the name. Definitely recommended.
