It seems that they do read reviews and make improvements: - There are blackout curtains (not 100% blackout though, as it wouldn't fit the design). - I was asked if I needed help carrying my stuff into the room. - They don't require guests to take off their shoes; I specifically asked if I needed to take mine off beforehand. As for the English proficiency, it still holds true - whenever you ask something uncommon, they will contact their head office right away. It's not a big deal, as long as they are polite and attentive (which they are).

Few people stop in Ranong, but just use it as a transit stop on the way to the islands. I really enjoyed my stay because of the walking street market on Saturday from 5 pm, and two great places to eat: The best Myanmar food at Cafe and Friends ( it doesn't seem to be on many review platforms) and for Roti, go to Roti Bangnui ( only open until 4 pm). The night market is also great for food and drink, and not so many tourists here. there is only one place to sit though at the far end way from the main road

Ranong was a typical border Thai town.

Ranong was a typical border Thai town. Mainly used as a stop over the the islands. It had a huge market and some nice cafes. We stayed there a few days and that was enough really. Apart from the sky walk and palace there was not much else to do. Although we enjoyed the Raksa Wari hot springs for a morning. We were ok as we had a pool. And chilled and had coffees ! Grab was a little difficult.

It's a pleasant enough town, several bars, restaurants,...

It's a pleasant enough town, several bars, restaurants, cafés, and even a nightclub, lots of varied shops and businesses, a normal, functional town where you will get a good perspective on how ordinary Thais live. . Mainly Thai people going about their business as opposed to a tourism overload, 'real Thailand' as they say. Ranong is surrounded by lush greenery and it's great to drive through.

Very pleasant medium sized town.

Very pleasant medium sized town. Lively market main road with many restaurants and music. Very nice surroundings with waterfalls, hot water springs and spas. Ideally you'll need a car or at least a bicycle to explore it all. No beaches in Ranong, take a boat to nearby islands.

They have provided us with the room next to the car park lot...

They have provided us with the room next to the car park lot in second floor which is very convenient for us. The room is clean and well organize. It is just nice for one night stay and location is located to nearby eatries outlet make it convenient for us to go out to have our dinner. The staffs is friendly but one set back is that teh hotel does not have a lift to go to the second and third floor. Parking lot is available upon our arrival.

This made for an interesting short stay.

This made for an interesting short stay. Ranong is not the most exciting of towns, but there was more than enough to see and do on our two days. We were there for Chinese new year and very much enjoyed the large fair in the main street - very much a local affair, lots of families and only a handful of tourists. The Rattana Rangsarn Palace was surprisingly interesting - well displayed information about the visit of the King Rama V, including extracts from a contemporaneous account of his visit. The hot springs on the outskirts of town also merit a visit - boy, is the water hot! The fishing port is absolutely vast and teeming with activity, but this is a proper industrial area, so none of the shoreside seafood restaurants which we were expecting to find. The fishing port section of town sits on the delta of a river, so the shore is muddy and not sandy as you might find slightly lower down the coast. The town is really big - a lot bigger than we expected - so we were glad we had the car to be able to get around. If you happened to be in this part of Thailand, I'd say that you could spend a couple of interesting days here, but it's not a town which is worth going out of your way to visit.

We stayed here twice on way to and way back from Ko Phayam island. On way back we stayed 3 nights. Ranong is a lovely little town and it is very relaxing visiting the hot springs. Property is well located on walking street and easy distance via songthaew to port and bus station you just stand in road opposite and wait for the right songthaew to turn up. Friendly staff, very clean. Although some rooms no window we slept great in these as quiet and dark. Lovely balcony to sit out on. Air con.

We loved this hostel. A beautiful building and hostel in a brilliant Central location. The decor and interior made you feel like you were staying in somewhere much more high end. The staff are incredibly helpful and kind. A nice little breakfast also. We only spent one night in Ranong, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely made even better by this hostel. It is a little gem and you must stay here if in town. Phenomenal value for money. Nearly too good to be true!

This is our 5th stay at the hotel and now our go to when staying in Ranong. We love the restaurant which serves both western and thai food, live music and has a great selection of drinks. And a big plus is the breakfast buffet, amazing choice and even offer it during low season.
