Bar Harbor is lovely, with plenty of activities, shopping and eating choices, but bring lots of money-- you'll need it. Similar items (like a lobster roll) could be found just a short hop away from Bar Harbor (like Winter Harbor) for half the price. Every turn in Bar Harbor provides another picturesque Maine photo op. If you're willing to pay premium prices for the ambiance, Bar Harbor is your destination. If you want the pauper's path, try the smaller harbors for your main meals and just tour Bar Harbor.

The Acadia Park is the best.
The Acadia Park is the best. Especially the trails: those who are into hiking will love it. Some places are too touristy: especially when the cruise ships are "in the town". Nice casual restaurants. For a nice "lobster" experience you may want to visit a quite authentic "lobstah" place (lunch or dinner) in Bernard (35 mins from Bar Harbor).

We went to Cadillac Mountain and it was absolutely wonderful, wrote up to the summit although two days that we were there it was so foggy and chilly. You couldn’t even see out, but it was still fun. We made the most of it.

Bar Harbor is a favorite of ours, we love the outdoors and hiking the many trails of Acadia National Park. The restaurants and food is great and numerous places to dine. The only concern, is the large crowds in the prime time of summer. But just plan accordingly by preparing in advance.

I highly recommend the bus tours through Acadia National Park, they are very informative, the tour guides are delightful, and the sights are lovely. Certain hotels are on a free bus line that takes you into, and out of, Bar Harbor and other attractions, that was a wonderful amenity! Will hopefully visit again to try some of the sailing tours available! We stayed at Atlantic Oceanside Hotel & Event Center. The pictures included are from our room's patio :-) <3
Great location just minutes away from downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia. Much cheaper than staying in the middle of the city. The free Island Explorer bus stops right in front of the motel twice an hour to take you downtown if you don't want to drive. Renovated recently so felt clean.
Really superb motel in the center of Bar Harbor. The room was big and clean, comfortable bed. Breakfast- for us and our preferences, actually one of the best on our roadtrip. Great to have access to microwave and coffee. Location-perfect for whatever your plans are in Acadia
NP.
This is a hidden gem! Off the road so quiet and a true ocean view. It was foggy for our first 36 hours, not unusual for Maine. It is an older Hotel but bed was very comfortable, all supplies were at hand, and very clean, and quiet.
Really big room, lovely fireplace which helped given the weather. Front desk staff really helpful, pool very good, parking easy. 10 minutes from downtown, 10 minutes from Arcadia NP - perfect!
Large room with ample furniture, comfortable bed, very conveniently located so that we could walk everywhere in downtown Bar Harbor. Plenty of parking on site.
