Set in Calitzdorp, 14 km from Oude Postkantoor, The Calitz offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a shared lounge and a garden. Fantastic stay! Very friendly owner met us and showed us around the property. Even had a local restaurant stay open exclusively for those of us staying at her property. And made the booking! Highly recommend the Calitz!
Featuring an outdoor pool and landscaped garden, The Queen Of Calitzdorp is located in the centre of Calitzdorp, just 550 metres away from the famous Route 62 in the Klein Karoo. A well run lovely establishment--great accommodation, facilities excellent and staff excellent.
Located in Calitzdorp, 15 km from Oude Postkantoor, Die Dorpshuis provides accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking, a bar and a garden. The hosts are very friendly and the staff are fast, clean and attentive. In the bedroom there are more than enough sachets of tea coffee and milk powder. Also a small gift of port before sleeping. Comfortable beds and cotton white linen. Lovely big shower and air-conditioned plus a fan. Excellent stay
Situated in Calitzdorp, 15 km from Oude Postkantoor and 200 metres from Boplaas Family Vineyards, 3 Queen Street offers an outdoor swimming pool and air conditioning. We absolutely loved our stay. Jako was making our stay better than we could've wished for and we felt 100% taken care of even though we never got to meet Jako personally (he respected the COVID situation and allowed us to self check-in and -out which was very convenient). Everything we needed to know was explained and Jako was always available on WhatsApp and responded within minutes. He gave us recommendations for dinner and breakfast during the holidays and even offered to place a reservation for us. The house is beautifully decorated and made us feel like we just moved into our new home :) The interior was extremely clean but cozy and we had everything we needed (from cool water in the fridge, to coffee, rusks for in the morning and even a basket full of delicious homemade Jam where we were allowed to take one home with). Thank you Jako for this beautiful stay at your house! We will definitely be back again!
Situated in Calitzdorp in the Western Cape Region, Anna Sophia Cottages features a barbecue and sun terrace. This property is within walking distance of from the town centre. The freedom to move without feeling trapped. Spacious accommodation. Beautiful inside and outside. We felt at ease to braai with very friendly hosts. We could come and go as we wanted to without restrictions.
Set in Calitzdorp in the Western Cape region, with Boplaas Family Vineyards and Calitzdorp Cellar nearby, Gasteria Grange offers accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. Colleen and Kevin are such warm and welcoming hosts. They suggested a restaurant for dinner and also made the reservation for me. The unit I stayed in was lovely, spacious and really comfortable. The stoep with the view of the town church steeple is ideal for a cup of coffee in the morning.
No fine dining but great for wine tasting. We sampled The Kranz under their grape vines, The Calitzdorp Cellar (stunning terrace view), Boplass. Lastly driving down a safe gravel road so typical of being off the beaten track and stopping at Du Swa Roo where we enjoyed informal fun tasting wines with the delightful and knowledgable Riana, sampling wine and tapas. We hope to return one day:)
Calitzdorp is good for one or two nights stay. It is a small town with not too much to do, about five lovely wine farms and a historical walk through town. Not many options at night where to have a meal although we did find the Bakhuis, with devine pizza's. I would definitely want to go back but this time to do some hiking trails and mtb.
Lovely historical town on the Route 62. Visits to Boplaas and De Krants for port & wine (& gin & whisky) tastings are a MUST DO. De Krants offers a lovely breakfast and GREAT COFFEE, both of which are impossible to find on a Monday morning in Calitzdorp
Calitzdorp is always a stop for us, whether staying over to enjoy one of the many festivals or just passing through. The village is full of friendly, helpful folk who are always ready to take time out to engage and there is much to learn about the village's culture, history and how it navigates modern challenges.
The Accidental Baker was a great experience but it is currently only open on a Saturday morning. The local Spar shop is to be avoided and we could not find a good butchery. The wineries tend towards the sweet wines and port if that is your interest. The local municipal Spa is very good value but is a simple offering of a hot bath and cold bath with outdoor braai facilities.
It was sad to see the little town battling under the Covid pressure. Full marks to the local community for wearing masks. Good luck to the many fine restaurants, and we hope they can survive the pandemic. It is very easy to get around on foot, but preferably in cooler weather. We love the way strangers like to chat. It's welcoming. And of course, the wonderful space surrounding the area makes one realize life is good, and we are privileged.
1945 was better than it is represented by the photos and descriptions given. It has been repainted, everything is spotless and well-maintained. Crisp white linen and towels. No pool was mentioned, but every property has its own private irrigation dam which was crystal clear and sparking (if chilly!). The hosts were friendly and accommodating, and all their properties at Matkiesvlei are well-considered and tastefully appointed. There was also a 2Mbit connection, which we didn't use but would be ample for most internet connectivity.
Perfect accommodation, Colleen's personal touch in welcoming us was great. The secure parking for the motorbikes and SUV was a great relief. Arrangements, communication were faultless. Also the "smallest bar" that Colleen directed us to for supper, awesome experience. We were also rewarded with three very nice bottles of wine from Boplaas, during our tasting and shopping, not sure what our host's "hand" in this was? It was a memorable experience and Calitzdorp left a prominent impression on the Guys.
This is a beautiful hotel both inside and out. The spacious rooms and public areas are a delight and the gardens and views are worth the stay on their own. Andrew and Nell are extremely welcoming and friendly and make you feel as if your staying with friends rather than a hotel. And then there was the amazing breakfast. All in all one of the best places we have ever stayed and we would love to go back and stay longer.
We planned to arrive after 18h00 and before we arrived were contacted to explain and assist with the check in proses. On arrival after a day on the road we were welcomed with smiles and a welcoming local port. The local sight seeing options shared, most within walking distance. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was excellent.
Jako's House is a beautifully restored Victorian home in the best part of Calitzdorp & the art work on display in the house is fantastic. Jako was an unobtrusive but ever helpful & contactable host. All the facilities & appliances associated with luxury accommodation were present.
The unit was brand new and spotlessly clean. It was also bigger than your average self catering unit, with a very large shower. It is situated on the edge of town, within walking distance of 2 wine cellars. It was very peaceful and quiet.
The freedom to move without feeling trapped. Spacious accommodation. Beautiful inside and outside. We felt at ease to braai with very friendly hosts. We could come and go as we wanted to without restrictions.
Off the beaten track location. Peace and quiet. Beautiful scenery. Close enough to Calitzdorp to pop in and buy supplies. Owner Thelma came for a visit to see if everything was OK. We absolutely loved her.
Wonderful hosts and the food at the restaurant was top notch. We rented a room at the annexe and it was spacious, clean and modern. Well worth a visit.
It was pet friendly.
The Cottage is situated in a wonderful landscape, overlooking a beautiful River and with spectacular views into the surrounding mountains. It offers everything you need and is in a way simple , but stylish on the other hand. The owners, Bronwyn and her family, were extremely helpful and friendly. If you like to relax in a remote, beautiful and quiet place and wish to stay in contact with nature - why look for another place to stay? Here everything fits in perfect!
The valley is beautiful and quiet the only sounds are of nature. The stars at night are unbelievable. the cottage is very well equipped. Trails and hiking the best.
Excellent hikes for all levels. Lots of birds and wildlife.
