A beautiful property with amazing hosts! I booked the unit for the night before my wedding and to get ready the next morning. They left a bottle of champagne in the room for the occasion. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the views of the mountains from the upstairs bedroom are phenomenal! The aircon was an absolute lifesaver in the summer heat. There are two beautiful bathrooms and the upstairs area has been renovated recently. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in the area!

We had a wonderful stay at Kath's. The cottage for guests was very clean and warmly decorated with stunning views. The pool is like in the pictures, an idyll. A highlight was definitely the food including homemade pizza and all home grown. We did the Cross Cape Route including the Swartberg Pass by bicycle for which the accommodation was well located on the way.

We needed a break, and that is exactly what we got.

We needed a break, and that is exactly what we got. The village itself is very pleasant, and we visited it once, but our real purpose was to be away from distractions. We arrived with all our supplies , so there was no need to go shopping. We simply had every moment to enjoy the peace.

The area surrounding De Rust is beautiful, especially the mountain passes, which have stunning scenery and lots of hiking opportunities. There are very few shops or restaurants in De Rust, but Oudtshoorn is just a easy 30km drive away and this has plenty of shops, restaurants and activities. Staying on a farm between the Meiringspoort pass and De Rust was perfect though. Just buy plenty of groceries before you get there!

We spent a night at the farm and had a very restful time. Beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere. Lovely accomodation with everything you need on hand. The host was very helpful and I would highly recommend a stay over here.

The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay.

The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay. There is a large back patio with built-in braai, protected from the water and a front stoep to soak in the beautiful views. The bathrooms are really spacious with large walk in showers. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. There is no TV but fast wifi so streaming from your phone is easy.

It is a very quaint and tranquil little town bout 30 km from Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape. There is an ample amount of restaurants and wine shops and a few souvenir shops. Spending a full day to experience the real charm of the little village. While there take a short drive into Meiringspoort and discover CJ Langenhovens carved stone with the inscription Herry, which was the name of his imaginary elephant or travel up to the waterfall, all a mere 10 or 12 kim from De Rust.

De Rust is a beautiful, picturesque town and good for your mental health to get away and re-charge. The eatery/shop in De Rust, called Pluim/ Frieda Schoeman is highly recommended. Well worth a visit

Wow, you simply have to stay here if you are looking for a stop over near De Rust. Barry was so welcoming, the chalet is wonderful. Finishes are top class, the bathroom is 5 star and the experience, one for the memory bank. Get here early to experience the sounds of the bush, the changing light as the sun sets and then turn off all the lights, put a chair out in the open and marvel at the Milky Way and Karoo star-studded sky.

Large property we did not have time to use outside braai but the garden is lovely. The house is old and the layout a bit strange, but will work great for a family. And everything is clean and lots of arty details. A little bit of everything to start us off, it was very thoughtful. Had great ostrich streaks at the Hotel (highly recommended)

Very warm welcome from Bernadette and Werner at the town hotel they have recently reopened , with plenty of personal service and attention. The meals were just what we needed- warm, nourishing local specialities. The village is very friendly- it was good chatting with the locals in the bar.

Advice to visit the waterfall made our stay very special. Spent whole morning in de Rust browsing through the shops and restaurants. Lots of birds on the farm, felt very safe.
