Wonderful, friendly, Karoo hospitality. Small boutique hotel in a small town in the Little Karoo. Fabulous food. Ostrich steaks. Selection of local wines and artisinal beers. Classic Movie nights. Showers and baths with lots of hot water. Good cooked breakfast. The decor is original from the time when the hotel was opened in 1950's. There are many art works by local artists. Location. A beautiful property with amazing hosts! I booked the unit for the night before my wedding and to get ready the next morning. They left a bottle of champagne in the room for the occasion. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the views of the mountains from the upstairs bedroom are phenomenal! The aircon was an absolute lifesaver in the summer heat. There are two beautiful bathrooms and the upstairs area has been renovated recently. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in the area!

We had a wonderful stay at Kath's. The cottage for guests was very clean and warmly decorated with stunning views. The pool is like in the pictures, an idyll. A highlight was definitely the food including homemade pizza and all home grown. We did the Cross Cape Route including the Swartberg Pass by bicycle for which the accommodation was well located on the way.

We needed a break, and that is exactly what we got.

We needed a break, and that is exactly what we got. The village itself is very pleasant, and we visited it once, but our real purpose was to be away from distractions. We arrived with all our supplies , so there was no need to go shopping. We simply had every moment to enjoy the peace.

The area surrounding De Rust is beautiful, especially the mountain passes, which have stunning scenery and lots of hiking opportunities. There are very few shops or restaurants in De Rust, but Oudtshoorn is just a easy 30km drive away and this has plenty of shops, restaurants and activities. Staying on a farm between the Meiringspoort pass and De Rust was perfect though. Just buy plenty of groceries before you get there!

We spent a night at the farm and had a very restful time.

We spent a night at the farm and had a very restful time. Beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere. Lovely accomodation with everything you need on hand. The host was very helpful and I would highly recommend a stay over here.

The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay.

The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay. There is a large back patio with built-in braai, protected from the water and a front stoep to soak in the beautiful views. The bathrooms are really spacious with large walk in showers. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. There is no TV but fast wifi so streaming from your phone is easy.

It is a very quaint and tranquil little town bout 30 km from Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape. There is an ample amount of restaurants and wine shops and a few souvenir shops. Spending a full day to experience the real charm of the little village. While there take a short drive into Meiringspoort and discover CJ Langenhovens carved stone with the inscription Herry, which was the name of his imaginary elephant or travel up to the waterfall, all a mere 10 or 12 kim from De Rust.

De Rust is a beautiful, picturesque town and good for your mental health to get away and re-charge. The eatery/shop in De Rust, called Pluim/ Frieda Schoeman is highly recommended. Well worth a visit

Such a pleasure to experience this farm stay. Had the option to order meat and salad for a braai before arrival, which was on the table/fridge on arrival. Ostrich prime steak was a first for us and delicious! Beautiful views and peaceful. Karla was most helpful with info we needed. Meiringspoort is breathtaking as is the waterfall. De Rust itself is a gorgeous little town. De Rustic Olive Farm...wow!

WE liked the fact that we were the only people on the property. We had the whole house to ourselves. The house is properly equipped with all the amenities that you need to have a pleasurable stay. The property is well situated giving you access to the whole of De rust. The host, Karen, went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable and sorted.

Great communication from hosts Deon and Karin. Rus in De Rust is a lovely cottage set in a beautiful garden - just what you need for an over night stop. The cottage is beautifully decorated and the bed was super comfy! Will definitely recommend a stay here for a night or three if you are looking for some peace and quiet.
