A beautiful property with amazing hosts! I booked the unit for the night before my wedding and to get ready the next morning. They left a bottle of champagne in the room for the occasion. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the views of the mountains from the upstairs bedroom are phenomenal! The aircon was an absolute lifesaver in the summer heat. There are two beautiful bathrooms and the upstairs area has been renovated recently. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in the area!

Lovely little town and very friendly people.

Lovely little town and very friendly people. The tourism office informed us not to go to Meeringspoort as it was closed due to a hectic storm in the night. We wandered around De Rust and visited a few of the shops. Had a long chat with the owner of the antique shop - very interesting. Took a few photos of the quaint shops. Well worth a visit to this town!!

We needed a break, and that is exactly what we got.

We needed a break, and that is exactly what we got. The village itself is very pleasant, and we visited it once, but our real purpose was to be away from distractions. We arrived with all our supplies , so there was no need to go shopping. We simply had every moment to enjoy the peace.

The area surrounding De Rust is beautiful, especially the mountain passes, which have stunning scenery and lots of hiking opportunities. There are very few shops or restaurants in De Rust, but Oudtshoorn is just a easy 30km drive away and this has plenty of shops, restaurants and activities. Staying on a farm between the Meiringspoort pass and De Rust was perfect though. Just buy plenty of groceries before you get there!

We spent a night at the farm and had a very restful time.

We spent a night at the farm and had a very restful time. Beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere. Lovely accomodation with everything you need on hand. The host was very helpful and I would highly recommend a stay over here.

The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay.

The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay. There is a large back patio with built-in braai, protected from the water and a front stoep to soak in the beautiful views. The bathrooms are really spacious with large walk in showers. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. There is no TV but fast wifi so streaming from your phone is easy.

It is a very quaint and tranquil little town bout 30 km from Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape. There is an ample amount of restaurants and wine shops and a few souvenir shops. Spending a full day to experience the real charm of the little village. While there take a short drive into Meiringspoort and discover CJ Langenhovens carved stone with the inscription Herry, which was the name of his imaginary elephant or travel up to the waterfall, all a mere 10 or 12 kim from De Rust.

Amazing location and lovely finishes inside, the soundproofing is great between the Chalets. The mountains are breathtaking, felt safe and secure and wished we stayed longer. We had our 2 dogs with us and were able to explore the beautiful farm, big bonus. Very close to Meiringspoort Waterfall and the town De Rust. The Owner is friendly and there is wood available to purchase.

We had a wonderful time at De Rusty farm -- it was incredible value for money. Karla and her husband were very hospitable, and when we found a small garden snake in our room they were really helpful in immediately coming to remove it (with plenty of regard for us and for the snake). It's also an excellent stopping point on the way to Eastern Cape.

De Rust has authentic old houses lining the main street throughout town. Mountains as backdrop complete the picture. The reception at Irissa Sanctuary was warm. I felt right at home. Karen is an excellent host! Make sure you have enough time to enjoy the unreal Meyerspoort.

Loved our stay there, room had everything we needed and breakfast was yummy. The hotel Owners were an amazing couple and we really enjoyed our time interacting with them and appreciated them suggesting places in De Rust we should visit.
