We did not stay in Vrede per se (we stayed at Mambakloof, it is 30km from Vrede). But if you need something while visiting Mambakloof, Vrede has the requirements to meet your needs (remembering, this is a small town and not a city… apply logic). We did not explore any activities in Vrede, so I can’t comment or make recommendations. Mambakloof was our destination and focus for the weekend.

The town is dirty, full of potholes and has limited clean restaurants. There is only one retail store viz. Shoprite and always jam packed. I wish the Councillor could do something about the state of the town. Building a a mall could bring the livelihood back.
