The accommodation is located right in the heart of the Black Forest in a charming old wooden house far from the pretentiousness of modern hotels. It’s quiet, authentic, and surrounded by nature. We loved hearing the sound of cowbells and even witness a couple of falling stars! Our lovely host prepared breakfast in a shared kitchen that was fully equipped with everything you could need. Despite the hosts’ limited English, communication was smooth, friendly, and always helpful. Just a small tip: as of August 2025 although we booked via Booking.com, we had to pay in cash at the end of our stay. So either double-check with the host in advance or bring some cash just in case.

Gesindehaus Charis is a detached holiday home set in Kippenheim in Baden-Württemberg, just 8 km or a 12-minute drive from the Europapark. Guests benefit from a terrace and private garden. Everything! They even took great care of the dogs on a day when I couldn't take them to the conference I was attending.

Set in a villa and surrounded by a garden, Baumanns Landhaus Durbach is located on the outskirts of Durbach. It offers rooms with free WiFi and Netflix ™. The room has quality furnishings and was clearly designed for guests' comfort and livability. You can also opt for a scrumptious breakfast spread to be delivered to your door, to be enjoyed with a tranquil view of the mountains and the garden. Best of all, Christine and her family were so hospitable and accommodating. The area has everything you need if you want some outdoor activity as well - a ranch offering horse riding lessons, wine valleys for a panoramic stroll or drink, complete with local Christmas markets, bakeries, and restaurants. The nearby towns such as Gengenbach and Baden-Baden are so charming and just a short train ride away from Offenburg station. If you go slightly further, you can hike at higher altitudes in Mummelsee and Hornisgrinde.

Set in the heart of the beautiful Black Forest, the country-style Blumbauernhof Hotel offers a petting zoo, and a garden terrace. Rooms and apartments include a balcony or patio with mountain views. The farm is beautiful, the accommodation is excellent for a family and we will be returning to this place again soon.
