But for the fact that it is on our way from Prague to Croatia, and the hotel Studenec that is great, Romzberg is a bit backward. Hotel Ruze is to be avoided completely for restaurant and hotel, Pension U Martina is very poor (smelly rooms), Pension Royal is OK but expensive for the money. Elsewhere, I saw a waitress caress smugly a very big dog while waiting for clients (no idea of regulations here) and the whole place looks a bit like hill billies country.

Despite much activity (e.g. hundreds on the river in small dinghies, canoes, etc.) and a popular resort for bikers, this is a lovely, restful place. It's an easy drive to Český Krumlov (and better accommodation prices are available here) but a day walking around this town & countryside, or spent gazing at the fast-flowing - but shallow - Vltava river is highly rewarding. A number of good restaurants - excellent food & beer - at very reasonable prices are easily accessible.

Nice and calm village with a few accommodation options to stay and eat. Perfect for those who don't like tourist crowded places. It is great starting point for visiting lower part of Czech Republic such as lake Lipno and Šumava forest or to go rafting or kayaking down the Vltava river. There is even a castle on a small hill above the village which is very nice and looks well preserved.AndrejSlovenia
