Gîte la canopée is the perfect place for enjoying the tranquility of the French countryside whilst still being within 3km of the vibrant town of Duras with it’s many bars, restaurants, artisan crafts, a great night market. Château Duras is magnificent. The Gîte is very well equipped with every convenience. Fixtures and fittings are of a very high standard, including a very comfortable bed. There is a private terrace overlooking woodland which is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. The pool is sublime and completely private, a real treat. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful without being at all intrusive. Sandra kindly arranged a ‘Degustation’ with her neighbouring winemaker which was very enjoyable and she had many suggestions for things to see and do in the region. We highly recommend this piece of paradise.

Out of every single window was a beautiful view. Nice and quiet setting. It was great seeing animals at home in nature. Fiona. our host, was most helpful and friendly. We both enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment was spotless, comfortable and pleasantly decorated. Duras is a nice little city close by with a lovely market on Mondays.

The room was very clean, neat, with history to it. There is a swimming pool that can be seen from our window, which was also very clean, and we had a refreshing swim after walking back from the town. Richard was ever so helpful and accommodating providing a sumptuous breakfast daily as part of the the package. He let us wash our clothes in his washing machine for 10 euros. He even lit some candles for us for dinner in the garden! I could go on raving about the hospitality of Richard and Jeanette, but that would make this message too long! Thanks again!!
