Location: Close to the A25 (PT) / A62 (ES) motorways joining Portugal and Spain. Worth to divert for an overnight stay. Could be also a base to explore Historical Villages (Aldeias Historicas) or Coa valley / Siega Verde prehistoric rock art (UNESCO heritage site). Hotel: in fact the hotel is an addition to the restaurant. We recommend a dinner here, our was very tasty. The hotel has original décor and nice finishing. Room: large and comfortable, bag rack electric sockets: easily accessible, however these near the bed are occupied by lamps. lighting: good Stairs/elevator: Our room was located on the ground floor. Bed: large and comfortable. Bathroom: average in size but functional, heated, large and comfortable shower cabin. Breakfast: good, but we expected more after an excellent dinner. If you prefer French or Portuguese style the breakfast is very good – different sweets, cakes an jams, if you prefer German style the breakfast is weak – no vegetables, only one kind of ham and cheese. WiFi: good signal, fast connection (important as the mobile network is weak). Parking: free private parking, many places.

Luxurious and spacious. Would have loved to stay longer but we only had one night. The owner, Manuel was very friendly and only too.keen to show us around The only downside was that as we were only passing by we had no food to cook in the excellent kitchen and the nearest restaurants were poor.

We very much enjoyed our (too-short) stay in Casa do Ti Massias. It was comfortable and very clean, and the welcome we received was lovely. It's located inside the fortress walls of a town (and region) with an interesting history, with walking paths and Vilar Formoso's amazing Frontier of Peace (Aristides de Sousa Mendes) Museum not far away. We highly recommend it.

This is a great hostel-style lodging. There is a fantastic commercial-style kitchen for those who prepare their own food. (Which is the best option, as there are no cafes in this tiny village.) On this trip I visited the site of the re-introduction of wild horses in the Côa valley.
