List of complaints about the Seabird on our 54th Wedding Anniversary Celebration (Aug. 14-16) Although the hotel is physically beautiful, I cannot say enough bad things about it. The one word that best describes it is “scam.” 1. Scam by “Angel,” the front desk clerk: Our visit to the Seabird was to celebrate our 54th Wedding Anniversary. We live in Temecula about an hour away and, for several years, I have wanted to go to the Seabird based on seeing it from Oceanside beach and based on advertising etc. So, I decided to book it for our Anniversary several months in advance to make sure we got a nice room. I booked (and paid extra for) a room with “partial ocean view” through Booking.com. (See picture on Booking.com website with--- a view facing the inside courtyard and, hence, a guaranteed “partial ocean view” since the building is “U”-shaped and you can see the ocean from the corner of the room. Instead, Angel put us in an outside facing room on the second floor (241) a long way from the elevator. (We are in our 70s and my wife has mobility issues which is why I booked an “accessible” room and it was very difficult for her to get to this room.) When we finally got there, the room faced a noisy street with zero view except of the street itself, the nearby train station and its adjoining parking lot. Sounds of the trains’ horns were frequent. No part of the ocean was visible from any part of the room. I have pictures. It was clearly one of the dumpiest rooms in the hotel. 2. More Angel scam: When I called the front desk to complain, Angel tried to say that our booking only guaranteed a “balcony view” and that “the problem was the reservation was booked with a third party” (i.e., he totally threw Booking.com under the bus and tried to tell me that I did not book what I clearly did book). When I argued back, insisting that we had booked and paid for a “partial ocean view” and that we could not even see the ocean from our balcony (see more below)

Not much of a view, we were looking at the building behind us and the railroad track below from our 5th floor room.

We liked the look of the hotel. Mostof the staff were very attentive and helpful. Beautiful view.

Food, while limited options (which was OK) was very good.

Beautiful location & ocean views. The pool area and fire pits were amazing. Loved that there was a beach concierge. Absolute 5-star luxury. It’s adults-only, 21 and over which was perfect for our aunt-and-niece staycation. Even though the hotel was sold out, it did not feel crowded. Due to the smaller boutique size, it was quiet and had high staff to guest ratio, and every amenity was perfect.
