Stars Gate Camp is a recently renovated luxury tent in Al Wāşil, where guests can makes the most of its outdoor swimming pool, garden and barbecue facilities. Rooms are excellent equipped, with terrace overlooking the desert (the fact that you do not have TV it is rather an advantage). WiFi works very well. The manager (Mr Gautam Balram) is very friendly and helpful. From the activities, we would recommend "night safari and star watching" (ask for Faisal as your guide). Difficult to get there with your own car (do not attempt if you do not have a real 4 motion car and you are not an experienced driver). Aim for the sister camp (Arabian Oryx Camp), and ask the reception there to guide you for the last km, since google maps are not accurate. Parking is free. We would recommend to spend at least two nights there. One night it is not enough.

There are tens of desert camps in the Bidiyah area, but this one is among those with the best location. It is a bit further away from the town compared to most of the others, it is quite a distance away from the other camps, and is located on the higher ground, offering spectacular views and easy access to the dunes. The tents are spacious and cozy. The beds were the most comfortable of all I slept in while in Oman. Considering that the camp is in the desert, everything was unbelievably clean. All staff members were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast and the dinner were tasty, varied and plentiful. Drinking water was provided throughout the day.

I really appreciated the thoughtfulness of the staff and loved the quiet and intimacy of a smaller camp (only 4 tents). It was so fun meeting people from all over the world at dinnertime and breakfast, and the campfire after dinner was amazing for sharing conversation over tea while stargazing. Everything was so comfy and clean - the bed was comfortable and I loved being able to shower underneath the stars! Finding the camp was easy enough and I had a wonderful time here. Definitely go dune bashing with Ibrahim! The food was so yummy and plentiful and the sunrises/sunsets cannot be missed. I’m so glad I chose this place to stay!!

Speaking both Arabic and English, staff at the reception can help you plan your stay. Location is secluded, away from others, and much inside the desert. So you really get to feel living in the middle of a desert. The owner, Idris, is very humble and helpful with everything. The caretaker, Irfan, knew Hindi and possesses immense knowledge about the desert and Oman, he was a perfect guide for us. Don't miss the sunset walk with Irfan, once you reach the end on the other side and see the wadi, it's beautiful. They can also arrange for barbeque and bonfire if you like. Food is a little expensive, but then they have to go to the town to fetch most of the things, hence its justified.

The luxury tent specialises in a buffet and American breakfast and breakfast in the room is also available. There is a coffee shop, bar and lounge.

Sightseeing tours are available around the property. The luxury tent has a picnic area where you can spend a day out in the open. Great!! It really felt like an authentic stay in the desert, we traveled the world a lot and that was one of the most special places. Everyone at the camp was really nice. The tents are clean and comfortable. Private little bathroom attached. Food was very good. Also did the dune bashing tour for sunset which was amazing. Absolutely recommend if you want an authentic desert experience, dont expect luxury or special amenities, but still very clean and comfortable tents.

With inner courtyard views, this accommodation provides a patio. The luxury tent features mountain views, a picnic area and a 24-hour front desk. The stay at Desert Diamond Camp was excellent! Sultan picked us up from the meet point and took us to the camp and we were welcomed with a campfire and fresh tea and coffee! The tents were vary spacious, clean and cosy, and the bathroom facilities clean. The next morning we walked to the sand dunes and the children did sand boarding. Sultan especially and the camp staff ensured our stay was comfortable and we highly enjoyed our stay in the desert!
