Guest House Ouka is about 11mins walk from Takayama station, the route was pretty straight forward - just a straight line! The Guest House itself is cosy and well decorated. On 1/F you will find the reception counter and a home-like common area, the kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, cookware and long dining tables, Shower rooms are just next to the kitchen. My single room was on the 2/F which was clean, warm and spacious!! (with comfy bed/ chair/ hair dryer/ mirror/ small laundry rack etc. and a warm welcome note :) Restroom/ washing machine (200yen)/ tumble dryer/ Laundry racks/ washbasins were just few steps away. Staffs were so friendly and helpful, luggage storage was also available before check in and after check out. I had a great time in Ouka and Takayama, will definitely come back next time (and stay for few more days!)

The building is a beautiful old school building in the charming town of Magome. My capsule had a little more room than the others as well, so i appreciate that. Great facilities include even an entire gymnasium. Very clean and tidy, friendly staff, affordable, You MUST stay here!

The property is non-smoking and is located 500 metres from Magome Observatory. Extremely thoughtful and kind host, beautiful and well-equipped space, and stunning location. Morning coffee on the balcony with that gorgeous view of the mountains was simply wonderful. Magome and Guesthouse Yanagiya was our favourite part of the whole Japan trip. A lovely old traditional house, beautifully renovated. Heaps of space, really comfortable with a great location in the town. The host is really friendly and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. He helped us out with transport and food recommendations, organised luggage transfer for us and dropped us where we needed to be on our last day. A great bonus was the record player and a few records to spin in the evening!

The location is great, a short walk up to the town on Magome, this is a rural and scenic part of Japan. Our host Keiko was very welcoming and cooked an excellent dinner and breakfast for us on both days. The dinners were particularly memorable, great presentation and variety. The room was very spacious and we were looked after very well during our stay, a really authentic Japanese experience.
