There was no breakfast but there was a fully-equipped mini kitchen which suited my needs admirably, all included. This grade 2 listed house in extensive and beautiful grounds was a joy. The situation illustrated how using Booking.com can turn up the most beautiful houses in gorgeous locations totally unexpectedly, even at the budget end of the market. Another recent example was a college of music in Hitchin. Raj, who welcomed me was most cultured and charming.

Andre and Ana were amazing hosts. The breakfast of delicious continental meats and fresh fruits, pastries, interesting cereals and varied cooked breakfast menu made the start to the morning an occasion. They were both very caring and friendly hosts. Our room was immaculate and the wee fridge in the room a bonus. The location was great. You could catch the water taxi from the neighbouring property and be dropped off at Waters Edge on the return trip; or alternatively take a 5 minute drive to town. Waters Edge was very quiet and peaceful and the various wildlife that we saw just made this visit

The room was beautifully renovated with very comfortable beds as well as being super quiet. Alex the host was so welcoming and made a special effort to provide us with recommendations for places to dine and attractions worth seeing. We dined at two of the places she recommended and both were exactly what we wanted. We would happily stay at Salamander Guest House again.
