Has everything you could possibly ask for. Rooms are very comfortable, there are plenty of toilets, bathroom facilities, so no waiting time. The showers come with small onsen, every one of which is uniquely pretty. There are large common areas, which are very social. We even got invited to join the owners steam pot party one evening.

This recently renovated guest house is located 29 km from Kamitonda Concert Hall and 31 km from Hosshinmon Oji Shrine. The guest house has a hot tub and a shared kitchen. The rooms were well equiped, shower and toilet were clean and worked excellent. The owner prepared a lovely meal for us and let us taste nice local delicacies.

Very clean and modern, excellent quality amenities were provided. Everything was done with a lot of thought and care. I felt so relaxed to arrive after a long travel day to a place so comfortable. Loved the pajamas too. The owner is also very friendly and accommodating - we went to his restaurant for dinner and the food was amazing and everyone was sooo welcoming

The owner has a good energy and very respectful I guess to all kind of guest either you like to stay quiet or being friendly. I could see his good care for the comfort in every corner. I enjoyed his expression and I respect his transparency. Cool owner. Thank you for all kindness and openness.

The property itself is beautiful, clean and traditional. Of course, the town of Shirahama was also beautiful and having access to the beach within walking distance made it such a great location. We spent some wonderful days at the beach! Unfortunately, one of the days there was a typhoon - however our incredible hosts were so lovely and generous that it was actually a positive experience even when the weather outside was torrential. This trip marked the end of a year in Japan and even as we packed up our things to leave, we were talking about how we wanted to come back to the guesthouse in the future because the property and hosts were so wonderful. We also had some drinks at the property’s café, and both the hojicha and matcha were the best ones we’d tried in Japan!  We absolutely recommend the Sangenya Guesthouse!

The property is non-smoking and is located 1.8 km from Kumano Hayatama Taisha. Host was incredibly welcoming and helpful. He searched and found information for us and even offered to help us make reservations for activities. We stayed here during the winter, but the place was warm and comfortable. It had everything we needed plus free condiments. We would love to stay here again!

I loved the location as it is a “logical” start/end point for walks in Koyasan. Delicious dinner. Look no further
