Double beds and private sections in the dorm make it feel like you almost have your own room. The kotatsu heated tables are a godsend. The owner is super sweet and makes tasty cheap meals if you don't feel like going out. Location is perfect, next to the station (and bus stop for Snow Monkeys, ski resort) as well as a convenient Lawson. There's water, tea and coffee and a fridge for guests. You get a free ticket to the local onsen! And Koharu the dog will take endless head scratches!

It was located at the heart of the city. Everything worth visiting is within 10mins of walk. The girl at the reception speaks perfect English, she is so warm and welcoming and has a lot of knowledge in the local food and drinks. The bed are surprisingly soft and warm, I never thought my best sleep throughout the trip would be in a hostel but couch potato deserve it all. Kitchen has everything you need can make a full meal if you want to. Shower was the hottest and strongest. I thoroughly enjoy the stay there.

My party of 5 total stayed only one night when hiking the Magome to Nagiso section of the Nakasendo. Proximity to train station and Nakasendo trail was the original selling point, but we fell in love with the place as soon as our host toured us around. It feels like staying at an artsy bed and breakfast, except you provide the breakfast and you get the entire place to yourself. There's small, delightful touches of personality and hospitality every where you look. We did not want for anything. Our sweet host met us at the front door to enter data from our passports and then gave us a walk through of the building. Two toilets and two showers was perfect for a group of 5. Fridge and other kitchen appliances work great. We listened to the CD disc player on the wall while reading the books and it was a lovely experience.The futons were placed very thoughtfully according to our parties needs. In addition to the trail and train station, there's a grocery store, a historic bridge and a cafe all within a couple minutes walk. The patios were a great hang out spot and we saw monkeys near the river around 7am. Honestly, I wish we had stayed longer but our plans dictated we move on. Next time we will try to book a few more nights so we can explore the area more!

They also partner with a ski rental store that collects your gear from the lodge when you done, if you are looking for a no-hassles stay in Hakuba this a good option.

Gaspard was an amazing host and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay in Hakuba. The shuttle service made things so easy, and his knowledge of the area was invaluable.

Located just a 10-minute walk from Happo One Ski Resort’s gondola, Morino Lodge offers cosy accommodation with spacious guestrooms and a modern lounge. great lodge area, breakfast was delicious, wifi great & easy access to ski resorts via shuttlebuses
