We are in the Nicaraguan Ometepe Island, on the jungle slopes of the volcano Maderas 30km from the port town of Moyogalpa, between Santa Cruz and Balgue . We absolutely love Zopilote! The place has a very special vibe where you can find amazing people. The food is great and the permaculture farm is super fascinating. We didn't even leave the place for the first couple of days and look forward to coming back!

Situated in Las Pilas, 17 km from Maderas Volcano, Rainbow Caravan Hostel features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. The accommodation provides a shared kitchen and free WiFi throughout the property. The place was very clean and tidy, tranquil, and no noise at night which is rare in Nicaragua because there's always someone making some noise. The food was quality, homemade vegan goodness. Making a fire was cool and it has all the modern amenities like a fridge and cooking equipment so you can bring beer. Didn't have any bugs unlike some of the other hostels i stayed in on Ometepe. It's quite a good location equidistance between the two towns and near the start of Volcan Concepción. I recommend renting an ATV rather than a scooter at the port and picking it up in Ometepe, don't trust the people on the San Jorge side. The hostel also offers scooter rental although I picked mine up at port. Very photogenic hostel and peaceful.

It’s a bit aside from the port city Moyogalpa, so it’s very calm and almost no cars and people here, but still easy to reach by foot from the Centre (15 min walk). It has breakfast included and it’s home cooked food by the family. My room was very spacious, with 1 double and 1 single bed. They had outlets outside and inside, so i could work online here. Ask for both WiFi passwords! The host family was very nice and always tried to help, like when I needed a dentist they found a number. They don’t speak English (as most locals here) but with my broken Spanish and google translate we always understood each other. You can also ask them about the laundry option. Thanks for hosting me!

Learned this was one of the original hostels on Ometepe. Breakfasts and dinners were freshly prepared with local ingredients. Their dogs and cats were very nice to spend time with. The hosts can lease scooters and deliver them for competitive prices. Communication with host prior to and during stay was excellent.

The hostel offers an à la carte or vegan breakfast. I loved everything about El Pital! It’s a wonderful place immersed in nature. They have great food and many ingredients are coming straight from their garden. Also the cacao ceremonies and daily yoga classes are amazing. The staff is lovely and always helpful. I did the cacao tour with Justin and it was so insightful. I highly recommend staying here. I‘ll definitely be back someday :)
